السلام عليكم
I have a very slight grasp on arabic verb conjugation.

Is there any good material on the internet about them and all their different forms?

My library has virtually no information on them and the books I do have aren't very elaborate and kind of confusing.

There must be some good sites out there. :rollseyes

شكرًا to all who help!

Thanks.

I do have a question.

The verb "(he) drank" is شَرِبَ, so it might conjugate into "we drank" with شَرِبنا, but when it goes into the present tense, "he drinks" is يَشرَبُ. Why is it (ya)CCaCu?

And كَتَبَ goes (ya)KTuBu. Do all CaCaCa verbs in the past go to (ya)CCuCu in the present while the CaCiCa verbs would go to (ya)CCaCu in the present?

Or do I have to memorize the patterns of every form?

I hope you will understand what I mean. :-[

Thanks.

well, the problem is that I did not get those CuCuCu things I think they are like samples, because I think this is used to teach non arabic speakers about forms. but we use arabic samples to learn the arabic verbs

but anyways, in general the present always start with "ya"

can you explain more? may be I am too slow today :)

Yeah, C stands for consonant, so it just takes the place of any one.
CaCaCa would be any verb like كتب and نصر.

the verb in present can start with one of these letters أ /ن/ي/ت (hamza /noon/ya2/ta2) you can compile them in one word (it just a way for memorizing) احرف أنيت (anytu letters)
but the verb in present with he it always get ya but with other pronouns it differs.
hope you understand me

Thanks, but what I'm asking about is the vowels within the conjugated verb.

He drank: Shariba
He drinks: Yashrabu

He wrote: Kataba
He writes: Yaktubu

If the verb goes a-a-a in the past, will it usually go _-u-u in the present?

For example, because نصر is نَصَرَ, will it be يَنصُرُ in the present?

If not, how can I know how to conjugate it? Is there a pattern or will I have to learn every verb's vowels?

I hope I worded that better.

yes, it is يَنصُرُ....."most" of the present verbs are _-u-u.....I cant recall any verbs out of that form

you will find it easier when you learn more words

if the verb end with one of 3 letters (أ\و\ي)they are called : احرف العلة (vowel letters- a7rof al-3lah) in the end of the pattern (ya)CCaCu you dont get ccacu you just get ccac
like the verb سعى
in present you say يَسْعَى because ى (can't get 7rakat)

but as you see they are the same pattern they just get some decoration\alteration in the end
