reverting to Islam

Dear Friends,

I live on the fifth floor Koo Koo ward a hospital. I believe that I have troubles with my being. I don't believe it is me.But my inability to accept western concepts of serving money and power over serving God. I have had this problem since I was in third grade. I truly believe that we must strive to do the right thing in all that we do. this is better than money, power, fame, or anything else.

Don't get me wrong, I am certainlly no angel. But I do believe that walking the path that leads to God is the only path that exist. But my society and these Doctors say different. They say I must accept life as it is. I should not expect others to do thier best in Brother/Sisterhood. So I am alone in this way of thinking. (no, I don't know any Muslims)


I am deeply pained by this reality I live in. And on Monday I will forced to begin a journey I don't wish to do. I will be, by necessity, alone and the journey will be difficult, and there will be trials.

I don't wish to be alone. I want God to be with me. So that whatever may come God will be with me. I cannot do this without God.

I don't, and will not have access, to any mosque or know anyone Muslim.

My question(s) are:

1. Can I accept Islam even though I am koo koo.
2. If I may, then I wish to know if I say the words in English is this acceptable?
3. I wish this place to be my witness. And, by God's will, if I make to journey's end in a place of my free choice, then I will find Muslims/Mosque to be a witness. Is this ok?

1) Yesh, but did anybody force you? Are you aware of what you are doing?
2) Yes, but say it in arabic after, it's easy peasy chocolaté squeezy
3) You need two witnesses, but you can say it here also!

1) you can accept Islam whatever you are
2) i think you need to say the shahada (the testimony) in Arabic and then you can say it in English
3) you need at least two witness (muslims obvioulsy) in order for the shahada to be valid

for him, he only needs to say it to himself and he's a muslim, given that he considers himself one, the two witnesses is so that the muslim community is informed of a new member.

1. short answer is yes. the longer answer is that it depends on how big a problem you have on whether you are accountable for your actions before God. this is because three people are not accountable for their sins, one being a man who is insane and cannot tell right from wrong.

2. yes, until you know the words in arabic this is acceptable, but repeat them in arabic once someone teaches them to you.

3. if you cannot find two muslim witnesses then it is acceptable to say it to youself, then once you find the two witnesses then repeat it again.

Are you in hospital voluntarily?
What medication/treatment are you under?

I agree, and if you don't suffer from a serious mental illness then you are accountable for your actions before God and therefore you should revert to Islam if you sincerely believe that it is the truth.

You can say the shahada in english: There is no God but Allah and Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is His messenger.
Here's the shahada in arabic: Achhadu anna la ilaha illa Allah wa achhadu anna Muhammadan rasouloullah.
If you are able to say it in arabic then do it.

If you cannot find any muslim witnesses then I believe you can say the shahada to yourself. And once you are able to find muslim witnesses then repeat the shahada to them.

Answer : Well i don't know what is KOO KOO but what ever this is you can accept Islam ,as Islam is not only limited to some group of people it is for whole humanity. By the way we Muslims also believe that every child born in this world is Muslim its their parents or society or its own who divert him from the right path.so you also born as a muslim.

Answer : The most important and basic thing is that you must have to believe in your heart that There is no GOD buy Allah and Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him is the messenger of Allah .you also have to believe on other prophets , books and angels , day of judgment etc so you can ask these question if you have ,separately . If some body just say shahada and does not believe it by heart then he was not Muslim.

So basically you must first you must believe shahda on heart then if you can read it in arabic its very good.

Answer : if you are not finding any Muslim to be your witness , then one thing you must know that ALLAH is always with you , Allah know what is in your hearts Allah does not needs any witness if you offer shahad it for people,
so of you are unable to find any Muslim to be your witness just say shahada to your Allah , and when ever you find in your life any Muslim you can introduce your self as i Muslim .

I have said the shahada in english and in the tranliterated Arabic-though i am sure my beginners Arabic leaves much to be desired. I agree, Islam, is already in ones being. Everything is right. I do believe thru my whole being that there is no God but Allah and Prohet Muhammad(Peace be upon him) is the messenger of Allah. I also believe in all that is said.

It is also thought that the act of accepting Islam, should, as a condition, have a certificate issued by the authorities, as evidence to that effect.

We wish to clarify that the whole matter is very easy and that none of these conditions or obligations are required. For Allah, Almighty, is above all comprehension and knows well the secrets of all hearts. Nevertheless, those who are going to adopt Islam as their religion are advised to register themselves as Muslims with the concerned governmental agency, as this procedure may facilitate for them many matters including the possibility of performing Hadj (Pilgrimage) and Umrah." To become Muslim, you have to pronounce the Testimony of Faith 'Shahada', with sincere faith.

The implication of the Shihada is that you believe that there is only one God, Allah, Who alone deserves to be worshipped. It also implies that you believe in Muhammad, peace be upon him, as the Messenger of God, and you believe in his message. It also means that you believe in all of God's Prophets, including Jesus, peace be upon him, who is a Messenger of God and NOT divine or son of God.

If you accept this, the only thing that remains for you to become Muslim, is to say the Shahada, while believing in it with your heart word for word as follows:

"I bear witness that there is no God except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah"

then repeat this same testimony in Arabic as follows:

"Ash hadu anlla ilaha ilallah, wa ash hadu anna Muhammadan rasul ullah"

first i wanna say you dont need to make shahada (the testemoney of faith)
so early in your career as a muslim. take your time with learning prayer and some arabic first. and get some info about what kind of food is halal/haram
in islam. muslim acually just means beeing a submitted slave of god who believs in the one and only god and who believs in paradies (jannah) and hell,
in angels, in the prophets and of course in rasuulu muhammad!! i would advise
you to wait with the shahada until you are prepared for beeing a muslim and then do it in the al haram mosque in mekka thats how i wanna do it. to your questions

Just take a shower or bath (ghusl) and then fold your hands like the christians do it and then pray he will hear you Inscha Allah

or you can say also " wa ash hadu anna muhammadan rasulu llah"="...and i bear witness that Muhammed is the messenger of Allah"
I think that the meaning of both of them is the same, as you can see. However, what is important is your intention because Allah knows that your intention is to testify His Oneness and that His prophet Muhammed(pbuh) is His messenger ...so both of them are good....you can also add "...wa ash hadu ana 'Issaa abeduhu wa rasuluh"="...and i bear witness is His servant and His messenger"....So it's just a matter of intention my brother...

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It is too late to take back my converstion with God. I am now a self aware Muslim. But don't fear, my journey did not begin at the moment I signed on with this forum. My need to seek God in a truthful-existential-frame of reference began in my childhood, by God's mercy.

No, I didn't know Islam thru any "truth" but that of western "HISTORY". So it was by way of a longer route: life. Islam's statement of fact on:


God's singular Godhood
Jesus the man and Prophet-not a God or part of a trinity
The non existing trinity
Angels
Humankinds one on one relationship to God
God's mercy
Words and deeds must go hand in hand
the prohets

and much more

were already facts within my own mind and heart.

What I did not have was the connect the dot between my being and Islam.

I am happy to say that what I have learned along the way in life was already there-born into it. And that Islam affirms my Muslim being.

Well, this could last a long time. But I am not one for super long conversation.

Now I wish to thank Allah for being with me. The state wanted to "detain" me in a mental place for a while. I am legally and successfully free. Yes, there is much that troubles my being, but the greatest pain is now discovered, revealed and healed; that is, finding my origins-where I belong. A life long dream from my early childhood is now fullfilled and the beautiful beginning of a jouney. Allah is truly merciful and compassionate! Allah had mercy and heard my a sinner's prayers.
