Hi, I'm new here and the purpose for my decision to join this forum was to ask this particular question. I tried researching the topic online and searched the forum but unfortunately no satisfactory answers have come up.
I gathered that it's pretty important for Muslims to grow a beard and trim the mustache, some sources even say it's necessary and liken a Muslim with no beard to a hermaphrodite. This caused a bit of stress for me, because I have been considering converting to Islam and I am unable to grow a beard because of my ethnicity. None of my family members can grow beards either, and seeing as I'm in my twenties now, I don't see much of a chance of ever sporting one either. What are your thoughts on this?

If you can't keep it, it's not a problem. Just as long as you respect it and understand its importance.

You'll find some of our brothers like the Indonesian ones can't keep them either.

If you can't it's ok but it's haraam to shave. Please stay active on the forum.

Asalaamu alaikum wr wb brother hope your well! It is just a fact of life brother that some of us can grow beards and some of us can't. Just like some of us have hairy bodies and some of us have'nt and some of us are fairer whereas some are slightly darker. It may be genetic but it is the will of Allah but there is no need to be distressed about it because shaythan is trying to put doubts in your head and make you worry needlessly!

To the nearest meaning; In the time of the beloved Messenger of Allah (Pbuh) there were many Sahaba(Companions of the Prophet) who also were not able to grow proper beards and there was this one Sahaba who was concerned that his beard does not grow out of his face and this caused him some distress and this Sahaba had just one long hair growing out of his face and Prophet (Pbuh) started laughing when he looked at him and the Sahaba was wondering why is the beloved Prophet of Allah(Pbuh) laughing for? Rasulallah(Pbuh) said, "if only you can see what i can see there is an Angel hanging off that one hair that is growing out of your face"! Subhanallah! (Glory be to Allah).

This shows brother that it does not matter that no hair grows out of your face, don't shave at all and let whatever grows grow even if it is one hair because if you don't shave at all apart from trimming your moustache then you will get the FULL reward of having a beard and you will have fulfilled this great Sunnah of Rasulallah (Pbuh) and be rewarded greatly so please brother don't be down about it now because Allah knows your intentions and will reward you greatly inshallah.

The evil shaythan(devil) is trying to make you delay taking shahada(Proclamation of faith) by giving you any excuse not to do so!
Be proud and so happy that Allah has chosen you especially out of So many people and guided you towards the truth that is Islam because he has seen something in you that he likes and he does not guide all people as he has stated in the Qur'an, "if i wanted to i could have guided the whole of mankind"!But Allah knows which hearts are the acceptors of the truth and which hearts which are filled with pride and are the hearts of the rejectors for ONLY he knows what is in the deepest region of our hearts!

He only guides who he wants and brother the gift of imaan(faith) is the most precious gift ANYONE can have in this universe and this gift he has given to you! We do not know when death will take us! We cannot guarantee that any of us will be alive for another second because death can NEVER be pushed back or forth for NO one because it will happen at its appointed time which could be ANY second so brother do not waste anytime in taking the shahada!

So proudly say with full faith:

Ashadhu allaah ilaaha illallahu wa ash adhu annaa muhammadan abduuhuu wa rasuulu

I bear witness that there is NO one worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad(saw) is the slave and messenger of Allah!

If you need any help or assistance with anything at all then please do not hesitate to ask! Jazakallah
