I think the answer is basically yes, be careful though some claim to be moslems but we
know they are not.

I have heard that zoroastrians offer 5 daily prayers. Is this true?

followers of Zaroastrinsm not regarded as people of the Book ... though they were treated the same as the people of the book during wars...

Imam ibn Taymia in his fatwa:

English:

Marriage and meat is only lawful from people of the book(christians and Jews) ,and the proof that followers of Zoroastrinsm are not included in the term (people of the book) is the prophet's saying ; treat them as you treat the people of the book .

Apparently this is a controversial issue; while majority of sunni scholars do
not consider them as the people of the book. see:

http://www.islamonline.net/servlet/S...=1119503544164

The wiki page (english) claims that imam maliki of sunnis and the majority of
shia scholars consider them as to be amongst the people of the book.
Unfortunately it lacks REFERENCES. see :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_of_the_Book

It would be a pleasure if some one can confirm/reject these claims in wiki
with external sources.

I don't think Malik ibn Anas, agreed that Zoroastrians should also be included under the term people of the book .

The place which Malik ibn Anas mentions the Zoroastrians is in his book (Almoatta) Is : under the chapter Alzakat

Narrated by Malik from Gafar ben Mohamed from his father said, that Omar ben Khattab mentioned the Zoroastrians and said I dunno what to do with them (the context is during a war with them),and Abdul rahamn ben awf said,I heard the prophet peace be upon him saying (treat them as the people of the book)...

1- treating them as the people of the book in war laws doesn't mean they are people of the book....

2- The term people of the book is defined clearly in the Quran:

Holy Quran 6:155
This too is a blessed scripture that we have revealed; you shall follow it and lead a righteous life, that you may attain mercy.
Now you can no longer say, "The scripture was sent down to two groups before us(Jews and christians), and we were unaware of their teachings."

the verse defined the term people of the book to the Jews and Christians exclusively .
