I am planning to relocate to Saudi late summer and figure that while living there I'll be doing a lot of reading on Islam in my spare time. I thought maybe if I can find a suitable program I could turn that reading into a Master's degree.

I don't speak Arabic and expect to complete the degree in English. I expect most programs at Saudi universities are conducted in Arabic, but if someone knows of one that is not I would be happy to hear from you.

I would also be happy to hear about any reputable degree programs (located anywhere in the world) offered through distance learning.

Thank you for your time.

I think there's a da'wah program in Imam uni in Riyadh that is mostly in English.. It's a bachelor's though, but perhaps they offer masters as well?

Ok, just checked, and they do have a master's as well as PhD if you're interested in that too.. I tried linking to the english part of the site, but it doesn't really work, here it is in arabic if you can find a translator : link

This is if you live in Riyadh though, I'm not sure about Jeddah.. Makkah and Medina have some good schools as well, but I don't know much about them.

Perhaps this thread would help:

Thanks for the pointer, Crayon.

Interesting thread, though not particularly relevant to my situation, which I perhaps should have made clearer in my request.

I am a non-Muslim approaching the age of 50 and so would not, as I understand it, be able to even set foot in Medina or Makkah, let alone (with a cut off age of 25) be accepted at an Islamic university in those cities. Which is fine as I'm looking for a program with a more academic approach.

Two that I have found in my searches are:

Centre for Islamic Studies
Department of Theology, Religious Studies & Islamic Studies, University of Wales, Lampeter
http://www.lamp.ac.uk/cis/CIS_MA_04.htm

Open Study Islamic College
http://www.openstudy.org/?p=index.html

Looking for more like this, in Saudi or elsewhere. Also from anyone with direct experience of the programs above.

Greetings,

Here's a distance-learning site, though I don't know how good the courses are etc. :
