Poverty

A freshly cooked meal I eat every day
sitting at the table with my family,
in my mind to Allah I pray.

All those people that are struggling to feed
themselves their families who need,
just a glass of water a slice of bread
but on an empty stomach they sleep instead.

A clean glass of water from the tap I drink,
how I am lucky I stop and think,
billions don’t have access to clean water like we do
some die and some just barely make it through.

Wrapped up in a warm bed I sleep
remembering the less fortunate I often weep
with no roof over their heads, billions lie
in the cold, under the night sky.

So don’t take for granted all those things you possess
and remember all those around the globe in distress
whisper a little prayer for all those in need
Inshallah Allah will listen to your plead.
