View Full Version : Poets needed for book compilation for charity

Tony
05-24-2009, 10:19 AM
:sl:

The aim is to provide a poem that may go into a book which will then insha'Allah be published and the proceeds given to an Islamic charity.

The poems will be in praise of Allah and this project is strictly for His sake alone.

We make dua for the idea, and are asking for any other help with the book being published from members of this forum. So even if you have never written a poem, give it a go and post it here.

The poem will need a title and your forum name, unless you want to give another name. Please do not post comments here it is just a recepticle for the donated works in order that we can compile and collate. Many thanks to all who want to take part. And remember it is all for the good of Allah.

Eventually we will end up with a real book, I am not sure as yet how we will set up any payments when people buy it, but I am hoping it will go directly to the charities involved. My next step is to approach the charities with the idea and see if we can get the ball rolling.

I will keep you all posted here, if there are any queries atc, please either post in poets thread under Creative Writing or pm myself or Alpha Jr.

Alhamdulillah :peace:

6:am: i prayed after a struggle to wake up
getting ready... my face barely meets a touch of make up
tieing the scarf feeling cagey...
but proudly standing here bravely
on my right hand i have the pin
encouraging myself that if i do it..its a win win-
-situation, the summation is i will evade another sin
and of my lord im afraid and so i have conviction within
the whisperer comes when the time is critical
but my faith is strong tho, his effect is minimal
'take it off,if you want boys??'
NO! ,..thanks for the ploy
im happily covered and not indiscreet
cus i know in the jungle...what happens to exposed meat
Vulturous men have free access to see!!
im still standing here
from the rushed thoughts i say 'bismillah' to get clearer
one final look at the mirror
i see Beauty and a girl so sweet far from being dissolute and bitter

Fly like seagulls over ocean spray
free, unfettered and bold,
above the dark and gloomy depths
your futures now unfold.

Soaring high in graceful flight
like Eagles on the wind
bourne away by Allahs power
cleansed of mortal sin.

You shine like beacons in the night
your light is ever bright
I only stand in awe of those
who always get it right.

blessed are they, the best of us
who turn from wordly gain
who only live to serve our Rubb
and glorify His name.

The martyrs who have given all
and turned their face in pain
to look upon the countenance
of God as they were slain.

Pure the defenders of Islam
you roaring lions fight
brave and beautiful your hearts
with Allah in your sight.

Small am I,and week in deen
the least of all His slaves
but I aspire to pray for those
who need not lie in graves.

In dirt and filth, a rock am I
no wings on which to fly
He does not ask of me my life
He just wants me to try.

Try to be a righteous man,
fulfill the basic five
pillars of Islam and keep
His covenant alive.

A rock is just a place to stand
to try and set your eyes on
to rise above the clinging filth
and seek the clear horizon.

From here I watch in graceful flight
the perfect muslims free
from the stench in which I stand
to prove my love of Thee

And when I moan or start to feel
my lot is hard to bare
I ask you Lord forgive my sin
you have been more than fair

I only pray that I will see
Jannahs open door
and that you open up my heart
that I might love you more.

I got a few couplets if those are allowed:
Allah is the best
And loves the rest

Allah is praiseworthy
While we are really dirty

Allah is our lord.
Like a huge cord

Allah loves us very much
So we shouldnt make a fuss.

I make my choice

You gave me free will to make my own choice,
I choose to return it to you;
For although I may assume to know,
I don't really know what to do.

Only you know the right path for me.
When I seek self-interest and fun;
Oh Lord, please will you teach me to say
“Let your will, not mine, be done!”

When I am proud and demand that I'm right;
Lord cause me to stop and be still,
And whisper into the presence I feel
“Lord, I submit to your will.”

Human feelings and thoughts, they get in the way,
Even though I intend to do good;
Without following your voice in my heart
Things don't seem to go as they should.

Lord, I ask you to take control of my life;
To be master of all I do;
I make my choice and I want you to know
That I give myself to you.

DREAM FOR THE UMMAH

Out of the near fatal catastrophe,
ashes arose and our Ummah will always be.
We may have lost much as our pride and strength fell,
but now we grow with people new to help our ranks swell.
The past was glorious we have been told,
Today we spread to new land marching strong and bold.
The Ummah did not die, from past culture it was set free,
we have grown from land to land and new fruit ripens on the Ummah tree.

A few other couplets:
Islam is the truth
And is sweet like a fruit.

Our Prophets were true
But people to them acted rueful

The Quran is our book
But heaven is our hook.

Allah warns all of us.
We should be bursting like pus

One quadratil(however you spell it):it means a poem with four lines with two rhyming in pairs.

Allah is the true worthy lord
May we get what is best for us
Our emaan should be long as all the cords
And lets not make a big fat fuss.

Be still …

Be still, and feel the gentle breeze;
Be still, hear birdsongs in the trees.

Be still, see starlight in the dark;
Be still, watch children in the park.

Be still, enjoy the food you eat;
Be still, and care for those you meet.

Be still, embrace your life – just nod;
Be still, and know that I am GOD.

Allah wants everyone to be halal
No one wants to be fanaa(gone)
What you want is what you do not deserve
But you should be able to reserve
A place in heaven for your own good
Also so if you want a good put.

Is up to you. Greatness or tauntness
Coolness or worthyness
All up to you
Allah has given the warnings put some dont even give a poo
While others will give their only shoes
So it is up to you. It decides your fate for hereafter.

A Mother’s heart…

A Mother’s heart is fragile so treat it with care.

A Mother’s heart worries so be careful not to joke too much with it.

A Mother’s heart cannot be bought with money but will be sold for love.

A Mother’s heart is never full so eat where her eyes can see you.

A Mothers heart pines so never be far from it.

A Mother’s heart is one in a million never to be seen again.

A Mother’s heart is precious so give it its worth.

A Mother’s heart needs watering so drown it in kisses.

A Mother’s heart breaks easy so careful what you say.

A Mothers heart is attached to the heavens above so be mindful of her dua.

A Mother’s heart beats with yours so tell it that you love her.

A Mother’s heart is easy to please but never stop trying.

A Mother’s heart can stop your Shahada so obey it.

A Mother’s heart is forgiving but never wrong it.

A mother’s heart is a mother’s heart.

It will love you more then you will ever know…

This I wrote several decades ago. Once when the poet in me was intact. I don't know if it'll meet your criteria, but whatever:

Faith

it is like the midnight star;
its light blinding;
stretching out to the horizon.
in the vast ocean of darkness,
it holds itself strong.
A reflection of the light rays
on the ripple of ocean waves.
it is a beam of happiness suspended in mid air,
waiting to engulf its surrounding.
it is a small jewel found deep within the earth's crust,
hidden and buried away from prying eyes.

Faith.
it brings happiness to every heart,
a smile on every face,
warmth on a cold evening,
light in a dark room,
a life in the dry arid desert of our lifeless bodies.

THE OLD MAN

The story of a man I was once told.
A story of a man good as gold.
One old man noble, wise and bright,
cried daily in pain and trials so hard to fight.
To Allaah(swt) he did cry with a mournful sigh.
"Allaah(swt), I love you so much, why must I suffer till I die?"
The man never asked for money food or gold,
it is the story of this man I was told.

The old man lived his horrible, painful fate.
Slowly he came to understand it prepared him for a later date.
When asked how he grew to understand and love Allaah(swt) even more.
He replied "I was given the wisdom to see what was in store."
The man carried on and told his tale, of how he saw iron change to steel.
He told of walking by the blacksmith and seeing being made the finest steel.
Even for iron so soft, and of no strength it was not too late,
That through fire, and beating it grew to strong steel and had a joyous fate.

Harmony will come

As my soul lift slowly out
I feel the essence of devout,
I feel the fantasy, within my reality.

I have always looked for tranquillity,
Dreaming about the times of ecstasy.
Easing the fear from any harm,
I say " harmony will come".

Sitting by the road side, as the sewage flows,
My family caress me as my life goes.
Pure life, the beauty of everlasting eyes,
The peacefulness of family ties.

Moments that will always be untainted
Deep in memory as ever painted.
Shall never be forgotten:
The weapon of fire gun.

The dripping of tear droplets
like purest of waterfalls,
Tranquillity relished under the jets
Soothing voices of angel calls.
Hold this moment, within these lines.

Eternally for people to hear our fates,
I see the calmness as my eyes dilates.
In all the gunfire madness,
Please pray for my families bless.

Please make dua for Gaza.

Brother Najm donated this. This is exactly why we are doing this people. May Allah bless you and ur familly Najm, Awesome poem bro. Tried to add photo but couldnt

breaking heart
cant breath
world shattered
killed dreams
everything is ok-til i remeber
den tears come and refuse to leave
until im in ma bed, and i weep
for the pain in ma heart to leave me be
pain to sleep and never wake up
pain to have to live with half a heart
cos pain is everwhere i see
faces in the ppl near me
tears surround, fill ma eyes
fall down ma cheeks, as i silently weep
and hug the pillow close to me
den ma tears stop and im in another world
world of dreams, a world where u dont have to think
then i wake up to this horrid world.
cos no one understands, except my lord
the one who knows ma pain and ma burden
as i walk onto the street, the cold air freezin ma cheeks
make ma nose red, and ma eyes water
but deep down, no one knows,
cos deep even i dont wanna think or know.
but i do know, and its a knowledge i bear.
memories in ma mind replaying constantly while in ma chest,
under ma ribs lay my the pieces of ma heart in chains begging to
this cold chains trappin me.
but lifes tough, nothin to do but hold on
and pray to the One and Only who can change ma fate

what is a man to a woman?

what is beauty to eyes?

what are thoughts to a mind?

how can u see the truth when u r blind?

how is love to a broken heart?

like keys to a lock...like hands to a glove

like pen to paper...like ink to an eraser

how u love with an empty heart?...how can u speak with empty words?

how can actions speak louder den words?, how can unspoken words be heard?, how can a poem be a poem if it dont flow?

True Believer has donated a second poem. Allahu Akbar, Alhamdulillah. Bless you sister

Allow yourself to hope:

Beauty of a woman

Her beauty isn’t her face nor clothes
she doesn’t wish to flaunt or expose
she avoids dazzling to impress
for her simplicity is her dress

Her hijab she wears with grace and dignity
she doesn’t care what others will say
she knows it’s her duty
and shell fill it to the best of her ability

She lowers her gaze as she walks
protecting her honour from tempting folk
she knows a quick glance is all it takes
she wont risk it too much is at stake.

She is beautified by her modesty in manners and dress
she is a beautiful muslimah, Allah bless....

COLOR ME PLAID, MY NAME IS UMMAH

Who am I? Many claim to be a part of me.
But, things are not that simple you see.
To be with me your eyes must not color know.
To be with me you will never a race show.

To be part of me, you will many colors know.
I am not a color, yet I am all colors aglow.
Brown white, black, yellow, red and all,
Blended together like the leaves of fall.

How great is the eyesight of those who are blind,
to the colors of man only one they will find.
If you are with me you will love one another,
There is no color, only sister and brother.

Its only for Allah.

Brothers and sisters lend me your ears,
save yourselves, encourage your peers
let go of their pain, alieve their fears
judgement day relentlessly nears.

Birds still sing when nobody knows
a hidden flower still grows
sunlight falls on a desolate plain
why is this you suppose ?

All exists for one common good
from fall of rain to prophethood
to glorify Allah, and all he creates
to praise Him as we should.

The bird that sings in public domain
still sings in quiet refrain,
the hidden flower so scented and bright
gives thanks for the sun and rain.

So too when our praise is hidden or deep
as though to others we sleep
it is Allah alone we direct our deeds
its enough when we secretly keep
our promise to worship and glorify Him
no wordly kudos to reap.

To be like the flower my inward desire
to flourish and brightly shine
give thanks to God and truly aspire
to worship the only devine.

when noone can see what lies in my heart
yet still my covenant grows
when secretly praising his Glorified name
so that its only Allah that knows

Then like the flower my strength will be
not physical just to be seen
but radiating a beuatiful praise
the strength of a perfect deen

Oh Allah grant me this one small thing
that I might glorify you
selflessly as the bird does sing
with a purpose pure and new

Afford me the strength is all I ask
to strive towards your light
to live my life for nothing else
than to fulfill your right

Purple Coat

A man carrying a little girl,
I saw in a photo in the paper today,
made me rush to the Masjid and pray,
her best purple coat blooded and torn,
her body bruised the man his burden bourn.

I think at the time it was taken,
this little Muslim sister lived on still,
her tiny life they hadn’t yet managed to kill,
eyes closed but skin pale but still living,
Insha’Allah sweet dreaming not this nightmare reliving.

But at this man’s feet,
others were not so blessed,
lives sacrificed to the greed of the west,
an unhealthy pallor held the skin,
blue tinged grey so black oil the west can win.

No I will never forgive,
nor my sister could I ever forget,
a face peaceful though still blood wet,
I will remember you to my dying day,
Ya Allah please help us ensure those responsible pay.

God is So Great -- Allaho Akbar

Look at the world around you, what do you see?
huge buildings, vast oceans, lofty mountains, then think how great God must be

Who created the universe so enormous, yet everything fits on the palm of God's Hand
And think how small you are (compared to God), tinier than a grain of sand

Should you then not adore and fear such a Lord Who is so Great
and wish you could evaporate while praising His Name?

(Based on a hadith that states that everything created from the beginning till the end of this world fits on the Palm of Allah's Hand.)

God is great!

A world filled with beauty,
Such wonders I see;
God made mountains and seashores,
He made you and me.
A world so amazing, a world so ornate;
God, our creator, is truly great!

A world full of hatred,
Of terror and war;
Staining life's beauty
With its menace and gore.
But despite human failings and all our hate,
God reigns supreme, He is perfect and great!

He calls us to love
Our friend and our foe;
Human minds fail to grasp it,
But God tells us so!
For those willing to hear Him it is not too late;
Simply follow your Lord, the God who is great!

The Qur’an

The pitiless voices fill my ears,
Frightened by overwhelming fears,
The brutal chains confine my heart,
Malevolence does not wish to part,
But true Words take me from this malice,
Mercy in this deathly palace,
Move me from my deadened languor,
Calm and quench my raging anger,
Cure me from subduing sickness,
Light outshines prevailing darkness,
Truth stands out from falsehood, lo!
Falsehood vanishes, withers away,
My soul is sprung alive as day,
A soothing stroke to stop unrest,
A beautiful sign, a book so blessed,
A message quite clear and manifest,
Explained, perfected and preserved,
A plain reminder unreserved,
Divine and noble, full of power,
Awe-inspiring, a great honour,
Tranquility flows to let unbind,
Resplendence rings out in my mind,
The sunset peaceful, quite serene,
Dawn is grand, a striking scene,
Surrounds me like the whistling breeze,
Floods through me like rivers and seas,
Fills me with the warmest love,
Hope and fear of Him so high above,
Forever I wish to hear its sound,
The rhythm resonates all around,
Gold and silver’s meaningless,
Realise where lies all goodness,
Success and salvation is inside
The Final Revelation to mankind.

Real Life, is Obeying Allah.

Alhamdolillah I'm alive again
Death after death, my breath regains.
Lustful & arrogant I'd closed my eyes,
But now my heart opens & I see again.
Cold and dark and hard it was,
Suddenly it softened by Quraan again.
How many times must I kill myself
Before I walk on "Mustaqeem" again.

( Death refers to loss of Taqwa..)

I have a Source from which you can never ask,

To come to my aid in every task,

He is my Strength, my Light, my Success,

But for you there is downfall, there is fright and bitterness,

He gave me Islaam – my reason to live!

But no guidance to you – your reason to grieve!

I see through this world, it means nothing to me,

But for you it’s everything, being joyful and merry,

My heart is at true peace, its depths do gleam white,

But yours is in agony, in unrest and pressed tight,

That blackness which shrouds it: a seal unbreakable,

I know true satisfaction, not actions unspeakable,

For even though I have no wealth, nor luxurious leathers,

I feel as though God gave me all the earth’s treasures,

Because being a Muslim is the difference you see,

Between burning in Hell and Bliss for eternity!

Can’t you see this world will one day waste away?

Don’t you long to live where you’ll forever stay?

You have no future nor have you a past,

How foolish are you – to not know you’re downcast!

And why does everything from you bear resemblance to falsehood,

Everything you make or say: all actions against good?

Why waste a lifetime or indeed many more,

To overrun the earth with oppression galore,

When all will taste death and be raised up in unison,

When richness and possessions – all will be gone?

You think you are godlike and heavenly prefects,

But you are so imperfect and so full of defects!

Tell me now, when the earth trembles and quakes:

Are you able to stop it and save the lives that He takes?

And when He causes thunder to roar and lightning to spark,

You are clasped with fear and so afraid of the dark!

And His are the winds and the waves that wreck your lands,

His are the erupting mountains and storms of sands,

Yet after all this, do you still claim to be superior?

The higher you think, only further are you inferior!

A day shall come when you will perish in Fire,

And forever regret what you still do from desire,

You like to believe you can corrupt our minds,

Yet truth clears out filth and can never unbind!

You can kill any of us, or take away our loved,

Do you think ours is the loss or we’re hurt by your sword?

Nay, every steel soldered sword is pierced by the Truth of One Word!

For the Light of our Faith encompasses your hordes,

And strikes down disbelief by the Will of our Lord!

How triumphant you must feel, by poisoning our food,

When our nourishment is the Qur’aan and Tranquility it exudes,

The Sunnah of our Prophet (pbuh) – our Source of Water,

So take all you want for you’ll never win by slaughter!

Scorn and mislead; we are untouchable,

For He is on our side, sufficient is the All-Powerful!

Live your lives in fear, and we shall grow stronger,

Then we’ll meet on that Day, over whose coming you ponder.

The Sound of Peace

As I sit here in the dimness,
Slowly drowning in distress,
Waves of wind scream in my ears,
Pounding their force upon my tears,
An angry fire scorches my head,
In the cold of a room so full of dread,
The dusty cobwebs all caving in,
Yielding to the beams that come down collapsing,
Surrendering to the seams undone in seething,
The raiment of the room becomes restless regardless
Of my cries for help and pleas for a harness
To hold back the evil entering uninvited,
Creeping in the shadows and searing disunited,
Worn down by shrivelling wreckage,
Tumbling down in my relinquish,
There seems no door but of despair,
No sound but of wear and tear,
Each second pierced by eerie invasion
Of elements unknown; a seeming delusion.

Yet, weeping in the darkness of doom and degrading,
The stinging silence is broken by a voice clear and ringing,
So soft and soothing in a realm of anguish annihilating,
As though a swirling light surmounted the bedlam and bewailing,
And shone through the thickness, every hole and hollow,
A sonance so great to drown every sorrow,
An uplifting source of peace to vanquish all pain,
Filling me with strength, keeping me quite sane,
A cure for sickness from evil incantations,
And falseness in thought and unproductive plantations,
I now see the wreck repairing in relief,
The calm melody encompassing all grief,
My teardrops transfixed in yearning to hear
Every true word emanating, entering my ear,
Its radiance so warm and strong to uphold
The caving in from above and fight against cold,
Amidst my drowning, a rope of speech pulled me out,
And shook me to my senses to clarify all doubt,
As though my calls were answered from the One above,
Who sent down His book to guide whom He loves
To a righteous path representing success,
Read the Qur’an for it’s a book so blessed,
Its recital unmatched; letters so finely arranged,
Comprehend the message so pure and unchanged.

SREBRENICA, 1995

A flower marks the place where
a brother lost his life,
far away from all he loved,
his daughter and his wife.

A flower grows in peaceful times
a silent epitaph,
a gentle sentry pays tribute
to the marching of the path.

You may stand and weep for him
our murdered muslim brother,
weep and spare a prayer for him
and for his broken mother.

His wife was raped and beaten
his daughter battered and bruised,
their bodies crushed and lost among
the carnage that ensued.

He walked as though already dead
his heart as black as night,
whatever force that drove him on
had robbed his will to fight.

Thirst had almost claimed his life
grief had claimed his mind,
soldiers claimed his love for life
to death he was resigned.

When you have prayed and raise your head
through sorrow you will see,
15,000 flowers grow,
15,000 free.

100 and 40 miles he walked
half of them had died,
when a bullet split his skull in two
and he was brushed aside.

Now his bones are merged with other men
with soil that makes this land,
this earth is rich with muslim graves
that lie beneath the sand.

My brothers marched to cold hard death
slain as they sought peace,
the victims of a crime of war
death was their release.

Allah knows the unbearable pain
of mothers who still cry
for long dead son's and husbands
who could not say goodbye.

Allah knows each brothers grave
who die in persecution,
though men no longer seek the place
of their secret execution.

Marched unto your deaths my brothers
your skulls now pave their roads,
but your souls are resting now with Him,
a beautiful abode.

In life they struggled to just survive
they stayed alive at best,
though now these murdered brothers
in Jannah may they rest.

Did they march you to your deaths my brothers, and construct the land from your jawbones. Did they choke and turn away from the rotting stench of the dead bodies aligning their roads. When your wives and daughters had been raped, your brothers, son's and fathers had been shot. When they tied yor hands and killed you, then moved your mass graves in order to hide their wicked deeds, did they smile as they desecrated your graves. When they did this to you my brothers, did they think Allah would not repay them, did they think they had killed your Islam, did they, and do they still think that what they did was hidden from Allah. Allah knows, and with Him is your vengeance, may it be swift and painfilled as they burn for eternity. Our brothers we weep for you still, be at rest you are not forgotten.

(In rememberance of the bosnian serb muslims who were massacred as they sought sanctuary from the ethnic cleansing in 1995).

Emaan increasing by the second...
Multiplying blessed children for Allahs sake
Emerging from the dark to the light
Roaring in humble might. To your lord.
Groaning about your sins and repenting
END! Wouldnt that be a great end of your striving life ?

From The Palette of Time
(In memory of the Shuhadah)

Frenzied strokes of imagination, paint vivid pictures in my mind
Bright and bold images, blending from the Palette of Time
Depictions of Battles - of swords flashing in the sun
The sweetest hues of anticipation of martyrdom to come.

Pride shades the sorrow on my face as I imagine the scene
When earth was coloured crimson for the sake of the true deen
Is that glow from the sun or the colour of a martyr's blood
Or a rainbow of love and sacrifice, in Islamic brotherhood

And high from the battlefield, rises a crescendo of yells of pain
A Mujahid strikes for the sake of Allah, a Kafir for worldly gain
For women, wealth and status, thus fools for earthly treasures!
Grieved will you be on the Day, for with you died your pleasures!

Ruby strokes bleed sorrow and anger at the Battle of Uhud
When the cursed Abdullah bin Shahaab, broke my Prophet's tooth!
How I wish my tears could fall at the feet of those - in gratitude
Who fiercely fought to defend the Prophet, until martyrdom ensued

O Mothers' of Martyrs silently weeping, how do I paint your heart?
For truly the colour of patience when grieved, a picture can never impart
I cannot paint in my mind, their souls in the green birds of Heaven
But know your beloved sons forever, in Allah's shade were taken

One day, I'll let my mind paint again, pictures of Islamic history
The unimaginable stories of sacrifice, the moments of defeat and victory
O Allah, grant us martyrdom - the faithful believers of your Beloved's Ummah
And make us leave like those before us – unforgotten examples of Shahadah.

2.

Forever

on a fragranced path, through the trees
she runs barefooted like the breeze
delicate pink blossom crush underfoot
softening the sound of the owl's hoot

petals whip up by the silken garb
fingers tighten on her precious hijab
on and on she runs toward the dazzling light
where love would be requited forever tonight

and there beside the shimmering lake
she sees the place where he had prayed
her loving gaze caresses the mark of sujood
where the pleasure of Allah he had pursued

he'd died before she'd become his bride
on their wedding day, he was shrouded in white
no final words, no goodbyes, no nothing
just earth preparing herself for his coming

she knows he'd have wanted her to be strong
to accept what Allah had willed and do no wrong
soft sobs break the still air and she cries
O Allah let us be together in Paradise!

she stands to go.. a determined look upon her face
not noticing her heart has started to race
suddenly she sinks to the ground, so cold and bare
a ghostly mist of breath escapes into the still air

3.

Regret

beauty of all shapes, color and size
what hadn't he looked at with those eyes?
until a veil of blindness had descended
his days of transgression suddenly ended

now his eyes are dead to the sinful gaze
his mind begins to clear of evil's haze
he'd tasted the pleasure of forbidden fruit
yet his soul remained famished in dispute

"why?" he repeats, "Do I feel empty inside?"
until the answer comes in a blessed disguise
the distant sound of Qur'anic recitation
he knows what he must do without hesitation

as now in the sundown of his life
when self-denial is no longer rife
he clearly sees what he's left behind
and wonders how he could've been so blind?

he remembers in the spare room.. a dusty nook
something priceless lies in the shape of a book
not once he'd glanced at a single page
but had left it there to yellow with age

a desperate hunger begins to fill his soul
the recitation is getting louder nextdoor
gripping his stick he reaches the spare room
sending things flying in its murky gloom

and soon.. his hand settles upon the dusty Book
a sob explodes in his chest, oh how long it took!
his heart soars as he opens its pages
like million birds let out of their cages

repentance mists over sad eyes with tears
"will Allah ever forgive me - since death nears?"
and as if something is telling him to keep listening...
he hears.."And Seek forgiveness of Allah;surely Allah is Forgiving.." (73:20)

willing his eyes to see, just for a few seconds
to see Allah's Words, His gift of Guidence
in hope of forgiveness he raises his hands
as tears splash onto the Holy Qur'an

4.

Untitled

a silhoutte against the gleaming moon
she stands by a window, in her room
her fingers touch the cold glasspane
tracing rivulets of pouring rain

he said he'd come home tonight
they hadn't argued, there'd been no fight
but no harm had come to him she knew
he was with a new wife and baby too

an emptiness aches inside her barren womb
where no flower now, would ever bloom
motherhood cruelly snatched by a final miscarriage
she'd lowered the drawbridge for a second marriage

he'd promised to fulfil her rights that day
pledged to treat them equally come what may
yet tonight, like so many nights before
she only imagines him coming through the door

she wonders if the moon can see her misery
his light is reflecting much too fiercely
illuminating the delicate contours of her face
her solemn beauty, so dignified with grace

dark eyes glitter with defeated tears
she knows he wont come as dawntime nears
with a hopeful heart she prepares for salah
donning perfumed garments for a meeting with Allah

nearby, a candle and breeze enjoy a flickering dance
when a sudden gust of wind threatens to end their romance
a remorseful husband stands watching from the door
the epitome of forgiveness, in sujood on the floor

I have started a self publishing package, it means a minimum of 68 pages and a cost of £2.75 each book, this is a price that would come from each book b4 any goes to charity. can someone who knows advise if this is good value for money,I have not put poems on yet but have set up size etc. if we go with this option then we need more poems, this is no problem but we would have to fill 68 pages and get a isbn. I think we should go with this option but what does everyone else think

Sincere Advice
By: Hafiz Raakin Hossain

In this small world, there are many people, who are in need,
What prevents us the most is just our simple greed,
Hold your desires, be steadfast,
Don’t hold on, but let go to your past,

Heed this warning, do not ignore,
Most surely, this is good for you, I do implore,
Some pass with a frown or taunt,
Not realizing your need and want,

Love, Love and not hate,
Surely, it is the Satan’s bait,
And if it so happens that they taunt you for your good,
Walk by with honor and dignity, you should,

Remember, seclusion is better than bad company,
And most surely, good company is better than seclusion,
Make your life worthwhile,
Be clean of sins, and let not you become as filthy as bile,

Remember, your example is being watched by those around,
And it is best to compromise, rather than a pound,
Follow these rules wherever you may be,
Whether it be on land or be at sea,

Mark Twain once said, “Be Yourself”,
Earnest are his words, worth more than all of his books on a shelf,
Some buy to make a good impression,
Fail to realize it is only a few seconds of attention,

Everything in this planet is temporary,
Even the big houses, or even that one small raspberry,
Our clothes, cars, items, materialistic items, or even our life,
Shall soon perish, only to keep what is left of our honor and strife,

The most honorable act is the one done for the sincere goodness for yourself and others,
Not for the world to see, but for the benefit of your worldwide sisters and brothers,
This world is but a large family,
And no one is greater than one next door with the Toyota Camry,

This is but sincere advice,
Comes from my heart, and not her head lice,
Follow it; teach it to others with the same affection,
It will, undoubtedly, leave an impact to whomever you may teach it to, of whatever profession.

MaashAllah, thanks so much brother May Allah bless you for your contribution. Ameen

If it's self-published, does this mean all of the £2.75 is available for charity? Usually there's other fees involved, that's why I thought I'd clarify.

While I was trying to find some info, I also read somewhere that poetry doesn't sell very well. But our case might be different Insha'Allaah... may Allaah (swt) put barakah in it and make it successful and accepted, Aameen.

How many books were you hoping to publish initally? It could be expensive!

Can we not approach charities to sponsor the project?

another dead baby on the news tonight
a limp grey body too small to fight
the impact of a rocket shell
that broke her bones
smashed them all to hell

the dullness stark in her once bright eyes
is crushing my heart, so still she lies
on her side, one arm reaching for
the place where her father was standing before
he died.

The hair that her mother had washed and brushed
now matted in blood where her skull was crushed
at 3 yrs old she never knew
that a man could kill for a point of veiw,
one that differed from the one they held
that they wanted the land in which she dwelled.

So another child dead on the news tonight
for a peice of dirt, A HOLY SITE !
and thiers children dying all over this world
as the oil runs out, so the wars unfurl
and theirs mothers broken who go insane
as theyre killing the babies, boys and girls.

And I hang my head and wish for death
and curse myself with every breath
because I am safe and far from harm
my sons are strong, my life is calm
and I wish to go and fight for those,
who cannot help where they were born,
who have no chance, who are war torn.

Another dead baby on the news tonight
and I turn away, its a sickening sight
And I hate the men who are to blame
but wait, I think I am the same
as those who kill and rape and mame,
coz I just sit and cry, in shame.

When death is mine, and its too late
I will reap the pain of my cowards fate
I will try to say that I couldnt go
but Im sure the Angels will take me lo.
So I ask for Allah to give me strength
that I may come to see at length,
that as a brother I should book my flight,
and board the plane and go to fight, so that
theres one less death tomorrow night.

"]My number 1

To my suffering
She’s a knife
Cutting it off my chest

To my pain
Her gentle hands
are the cure

To my worries,
Any uncertainty
Her survival,
The years she lived
Become my answers.

My tears
Her hugs,
Her hand stroking me,
Simply Blows it dry

My mistakes
She knows
Before I make them.

What I'm thinking
She can see through my eyes

As my head spins
from all I encounter
Lowering it into her lap
Bestows ultimate medicine

and this one I wrote for the ones who suffer??

Dont curse ur hardships
Off ur heart Arrogance it strips
It teaches you to appreciate
To Forgive but to never hate
What truly matters it reveals
The meaningless it conceals
Your broken heart it pieces
It teaches you to get back up
To fear none but Allah n speak up
Cause you know u seen it all
Broken the silence, the wall
To the poor n less fortunate u relate
InshaAllah to Jennah you will migrate

If some members are reliable and good at calligraphy I happen to know of an online store that would be glad to handle the sales end with no cost and no commission. What is the selling price is what you will get for the charity.

Somebody do one up in about poster size and if it is suitable for framing send a picture of it to Tk and if he likes it, he can pm me and I will put him in touch with a seller that will handlle the sale of it. I suggest each one be done on a one by one basis and begin with just one , somebody can then do a second one if it sells.

I should mention that for the next 2 to 3 weeks I will seldom be online but I will try to check my emails and PM at least once every 3 days.

If you guys are seriously willing to handle the book, I know someone who prints books for about £1, but you have to have a minimum order of 1000. On top of that, the sales and editing is up to you. They do indexing however. It's very cheap, and with a forum this size, insha'Allah it's worth it. You can give it a thought.

What you have suggested would cost 1000, the cheapest otherwise(havent haggled yet tho) appears to 645. Your idea seems to give best value for money tho, theres no dead line, I rushed into it a bit thinking all would come right, now to be honest I count each day as the ppl who need the proceeds are dying and suffering. If I could afford it I would pay it myself bro but hard times at present. I considered everyone donating a £ untill we got enough but then it seems the money would be better going straight into the charity. If the book gets produced I will never stop selling it, and I can be resoursefull in this respect. Peace

Hm...

Well, there's another thought in mind. We can ask around businesses who would like to sponsor, and their company names or a letter from them will be published along with the book. Or/And as the sales come in, they will get the cost price of the book and the profits go towards Islamic Relief. That would probably be the easiest and most logical way to do it. Otherwise, as you said, in these hard times it would almost be impossible. You might want to even consider the market right now. Insha'Allah, however, it will sell fluently. That's just an input. If you need help finding business/publishers or whatever, feel free to come to me.

Jazakumullahu Khair.

In our church we sometimes have fund-raising events for charity.
For example, if the children want to raise some money for a certain charity, they might sell cakes.
Some of the ladies knit clothing to be sent to people in need.
Sometimes people make displays or give talks about certain projects to raise people's awareness (and hopefully to receive some donations for it)
Etc, etc

I don't know if mosques do that kind of thing ... but perhaps people could approach the imam in their own mosque, explain about our project and ask they could do a fund-raising event at the mosque.

Just a thought ... it might not be appropriate. :-[

All the charity that the mosque raises is usually spent on funding the mosque. The mosque is usually filled with men who come from work, most would not wish to waste their precious money making time for charity causes when they themselves do give charity. Though the idea is worth a thought, brother Tony can you possibily speak to a high ranked member of the local mosque about this. We need to have charity ideas some way or another and the worst that could happen with this idea is that no one donates when that is really rare. We need to publish this book because the time already dedicated to this book should not go un-noticed. But then again for whatever reason if it does not get published Allah has already seen our intention and that will be enough. I really want to do something for charity. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot volunteer at the local hospital because they are in need of pro proffesionals and they would doubt me if I am upto something when I am indeed just trying to do the best, but how would they know? Volunteering here is not welcomed, you either train fully and work or just leave it to be. Training to be a ward boy at the age of 14 will look strange and wierd along with that most medical careers require some knowledge in it while I dont have the closest hint of what is it. That is the reason why I cannot volunteer in the hospital...

May Allah bless you for your hardwork. Ameen.
