Today I spent some precious time walking in the nearby hills with my husband.
September has been exceptionally dry.

We even found some sweet chestnuts.
They are best roasted in their skins and eaten hot!

It's not so easy to find any, because the squirrels always seem to get there first ... but we managed to find a handful.
Squirrels, eat your hearts out! :D

You've never asked me permission to post in 'my threads' before, Abdullahii ... why start now?? :D

so no postings of baboons and beetroot
I should hope not - unless they are pictures of baboons and beetroot in the autumn ... !! :shade:

nice pics

who used to play conkers in the autumn? :D that pic reminds me of them lol

I'd forgotten that thread. Thanks for reminding me. :)

I was eating BOILED chest nuts last night, they are quite delicious. :D

I had 83 poems published and copyrighted on this website but it appears to have been hijacked which means all my work is lost..imsad
luckily I kept some of them in my diaries..

so without further ado here is a poem on the fall that I'd written"

entitled 'A special verse'

I wrote on a thousand autumn leaves
far from monotony, and long after
still held on to their color, I chose them of reds
happy was I to see them descend to their death
in the rain, in the desolate days as I stood alone
free from company.. friendship
'tis the natural state of forgotten
it torments me to live on a memory
my words ashamed of their new form
led me to memorize yours
as they were fittingly more forlorn
straight from the book of the dead
they danced before my eyes to the flickering light
human as I was, I always hoped
that you can hear me, in a special verse
starring at some rose seller
I sip tea and stall for time beyond boundary-- oh sorrow--
confirm to me in the flickering shadows
of the bargain I made with those imaginary angels
that you had a safe journey, that your soul didn't depart
unaccounted for!
