Turmeric also has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties too, and herbalists use it to treat poor circulation, skin disorders, diabetes, arthritis, wounds, bruises, and immune deficiencies, amongst other things. I have heard that people with a regular intake of it seem to have a lower risk of developing Alzheimers disease, though I'm not sure how true that is.

Indians and Pakistanis put a little (we use powder - fresh would have more benefit I think) )into almost each dish, so alhamdulillah perhaps we are benefitting our health by doing so!
