As some of you may know, I'm a non-league football (semi professional) fan and have no interest in the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. My team play in the Unibond, which is 3 below the Blue Square Premier.

-------------------------------------------------------

Woodley Sports FC’s fixture at Warrington Town tomorrow was called off after the club was ravaged by an outbreak of suspected Swine Flu’. The club had made application to the League to call off their scheduled match on Tuesday evening at Clitheroe when a number of players had reported sick. This application was rejected but following that fixture, which they lost to a 94th minute goal, more players, management staff and club officials went down with the illness to the extent that the club simply did not have enough fit players to form a team. By lunchtime today [Fri]fourteen players were ill plus the entire management team and with three long term injuries due to broken bones it left the club with just seven registered players available with no goalkeeper.

The outbreak was so virulent that the club closed down its entire sporting complex facility to the public as well as to its own players in order to have the accommodation deep cleaned in an attempt to sanitise the complex and prevent a further spreading of the bug. In addition the club’s Reserve team home fixture in the Lancashire League was also called off and Sunday's Under 18’s fixture in the North West Youth Alliance League is also under serious threat.
