Assalamulaikum Brothers and Sisters in Islam. I am a convert and I have two questions in prayer...

1. In between waiting for Zohor prayer, should I be praying Syuruk?
2. We all know that prayer is powerful and if you are in extreme pain and sorrow, prayer will help you ease the suffering. Is there any special prayer I can say everytime I feel this way?

Thank you to those who will reply.

Sorry, might be different term in my country.
If its 10:00hrs, can I still pray the Sunrise prayer?

How do I pray the Nafil? Does it have specific number of cycles? Or it can be any number and I will just say it in my intention?

Thank you.

Salam,
Shuruk isn't a prayer. Shuruk is when time for fajr is out and you should pray fajr before shuruk. Between shuruk and zuhr is no prayer. Then after shuruk comes zuhr, then assr, then maghreb and then ishaa.

Asalaamu Alaikum WR Wb, yes sister you can pray the Ishraaq not syuruk which is the sunrise prayer at 10am although its preferrable and much more rewarding to pray it 20 minutes after sunrise, so after you have prayed you fajr salah for you to stay seated doing dhikr (Remembrance of Allah) and reading Qur'an and then 20 mins after sunrise to pray 2 rakats Nafil twice (2x2) so altogether 4 rakats but in sets of 2. All you have to say in your intention is that Oh Allah im intending to pray 2 rakats of sunrise prayer etc.

For this it is stated in hadith that one will gain great rewards of that of a voluntary Hajj for praying this aftr Fajr seated and doing dhikr and reading Qur'an until 20 mins after sunrise..

Here are the rest of the nafils you can pray throughout the day:

Salams My Friend,

I am a converted muslim. 10 years before, I met with Harun Yahya and his books.
I recommend you to read his books. All of his books are free on the web. harunyahya.com
Did you find answer to your question about praying?

Salams,
Melis Sapmaz.

Wa alaikum assalaam my sister,

Yes, there are du'aas (supplications) that you can say for anxiety, sorrow, distress, and pain. These do not need to be said with a prayer (salaat) but can be said any time. They come from a very comprehensive du'aa book called Hisnul Muslim, which is available in most Islamic bookshops. These du'aas are authentic from the sunnah and have references to back them up.

It's available online here http://www.makedua.com/
and you can search what you are after eg put in key words such as anxiety etc and it wil bring up the du'aas for that.

I've given the specific links for the duaas you are after here:

Du'aas for anxiety and sorrow: http://www.makedua.com/display_dua.php?sectionid=34

Du'aas for distress: http://www.makedua.com/display_dua.php?sectionid=35

Du'aa for pain: http://www.makedua.com/display_dua.php?sectionid=117

In case you can't read Arabic, the following links have an approximate transliteration, as well as a "listen" link so you can see how they are pronounced. Some of the first words before the actual du'aa begins, are the person in the audio saying, "a person with such and such should say"...and then the du'aa begins.

Main link for the book on the website, with contents: http://aa.trinimuslims.com/showthread.php?t=5390

Du'aas for anxiety, sorrow and distress: http://abdurrahman.org/zikr/Hisn_al_..._Distress.html

Duaa for pain :

What to say when you feel a pain in your body:

Put your hand on the place where you feel pain and say:

بِسْمِ اللهِ

Bismillaah.

With the Name of Allah (three times).

Then say :

(أَعُوذُ باللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مَنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ.
'A'oothu billaahi wa qudratihi min sharri maa 'ajidu wa 'uhaathiru. (seven times)

I seek refuge in Allah and in His Power from the evil of what I find and of what I guard against.

Reference: Muslim 4/1728.

A link for the PDF book of Hisnul Muslim that you can download onto your computer is here, but unfortunately this one has no index or contents :

I hope this is of some help.

May Allah remove all you anxieties, worries and pain, and may He ease everything for you and keep you steadfast. Ameen.
