ARABIC COURSE


Level 1 Course Content:
Grammar Reading and Writing, Speaking and Listening:
Introduction to Arabic Language, Arabic in context of other Islamic Sciences, Arabic Alphabet, articulating sounds of letters correctly. Reading alphabet on its own, joined up and words. Writing the alphabet, on its own, joined up and words. Identifying letters in the beginning, middle and end of a word. Definite and indefinite article, Learning Arabic Vocabulary (describing words, family, profession, objects, colours, animals, fruits), The article Gender, Nouns and nominal sentences, Demonstrative Pronouns, Personal Pronouns: attached and detached. Possessive case, Prepositions, Adjectives and adjectival Sentences. Verbs (Past and Present), Learning minimum of 20 verbs. Verb Conjugation. Introducing oneself family, friends. Asking for and giving personal information. Describing objects and things. Understanding and using common everyday language.

Level 2 Content:
Grammar and Study Focus/Speaking and Listening:
Present tense and conjugation, study skills, plurals, divisions of nouns, verbs and particles, types of sentences: Nominal and verbal, relative pronouns, learning through story 1, colours and defects.
Speaking and Listening. Ask for and tell the time/day, Make requests using appropriate terms, Give description of places and things, Express likes and dislikes

Memorisation of templates:
Af’al Form II, Maf’ul Form I and II, Minimum of 25 Verbs


ARABIC WITHIN SALAH

“Out of all the ways through which My servant gets closer to Me, Salah is the dearest to Me." (Bukhari)

Course Content:
Concept of Salah, Silah. Communion with Allah.
Understand the meanings of what you recite in your five daily prayers.
Tafsir & explanation of short surahs including Surah Al Fatiha – Opening of Qur’an,Dua, other names of Surah Fatiha. An Naas & Al Falaq (Muawwidhatain) - Concept of Evil ‘sharr’ and Sihr and Allah being All Powerful. Al Ikhlaas -Tawhid, the Oneness of Allah. Al Kaafiroon, Al Lahab- Abi Lahab and his Wife.
Tasbeehat of Salah (Subhanaka Allahumma Bihamdika), Attahiatu Lillahi – Isra wa Mi’raj and the concept of drawing close to Allah in Salah.

Arabic grammar covers the recognition of nouns, indefinite and definite article, recognition of verbs, prepositions, pronouns detached and attached.

By the end of the module you will have better understanding of what you recite in your salah and be able to offer your salah more effectively with more Khushoo (focus and concentration).

*Note: Prior knowledge of Arabic not essential for this module.


HIFDH UL QUR'AN -Memorisation

Join a regular weekly memorisation session focusing on memorising the Holy Qur’an. Learn to acquire the skills required to memorise and strengthen your memory. Focus on memorising Juz Amma and Juz Tabarak or come and revise other chapters you have memorised. Open to all, Warm and friendly sisters only environment. Support from qualified and experienced teachers.

Every Sunday mornings 9am, Froud Centre, Manor Park, E12


TAJWEED COURSE


Tajweed Level 1:
This course will focus particularly on perfecting the Makharij (articulation points of each letter). The course will equip students with the basic rules to be able to recite the Qur’an correctly. Importance of Tajweed, Etiquettes of Quranic Recitation, Makharij al Huruf (Places of Articulations of the Arabic alphabets). Jawf, Halq, Lisan, Shafathan and Khaishoom. Sun Letters and Moon Letters. Methods of reciting Istia’adha & Basmalah. Noon Sakinah and Tanween Rules: Idhar, Idhgham, Iqlab & Ikhfa. Qalqalah & Al Ghunnah. Recitation and Memorisation of Juz Amma including Surah Fatihah, Surah An Naas to Surah Zilzaal with correct Tajwid.

Level 2: will equip the students to recite the Qur’an with many Ahkams that are compulsory as well as memorise parts of the last Juz of the Qur’an. The meem sakinah and Madd rules are taught in this module.

Level 3: Revision of Level 1 and Level 2. Rules of Sifaat including with opposites and without opposites. Memorisation and recitation of Surah AlFajr to Surah ALMutaffifeen.

Level 4: intends to strengthen students’ recitation with Sifat of letters so that every letter of the Qur’an may be recited with its right haqq. Advanced rules are introduced. Levels of Idgham-Muthajanis, Muthaqarib, Muthamathil, Rules of laam, Signs of stopping and responding to the Qur’an, Waqf and Ibtida, Ishmam wa raum, tas-heel. Memorisation with correct tajwid Surah Mutaffiffeen to Surah Naba.


JAZARIYYAH – Part 1


Learn the famous Muqaddimah by Imam Al Jazariy who eloquently compiled all the rules of Tajweed in this eloquent poem. Studying and memorising this text is compulsory for those wishing to obtain ijaza in Tajweed.

Students will be taught the poem/text in Arabic and be given an explanation of the verses in English with examples. It will be optional to memorise the poem. Part 2 of this module will commence once part 1 has been completed successfully

1. Introduction and biography of the author – Ibn Jazariyy
2. Muqaddimat Al-Manzuma – Introduction to the Poem
3. Bab ut-Tajwid – Chapter on Tajwid
4. Makhariji al-Huroofi – Articulation points of the letters
5. Sifaath al-Huroofi – Characteristics of the letters
6. Fi Dhikri Ba’di Tanbihaat – Reminders of points to be cautious
7. Ar-Ra’ath
8. Al-laamaat wa Ahkaamin Mutafarriqatin
9. Al-dhadhi’ wa ‘a-Zai’
10. Al-Nooni wal Meemi al Mushaddadatain wal Meem al-Sakinah
11. Ahkaami noon al sakinah wa al tanween


CALLIGRAPHY (NASKH SCRIPT)

Calligraphy is regarded as the supreme art in the Islamic world. The status of writing in Islam has an elevated position, exemplified by a whole Chapter in the Qur’an being devoted to the 'The Pen' and significance of the Pen is further elaborated in Surah Ar Rahman ‘Allama bil Qalam’ ‘ He taught by the Pen.’ This introductory course to the Naskh script will include:

1. Historical development of Arabic Calligraphy
2. Arabic Alphabets both joined and independent using a Reed Pen
3. The science of perfect proportion by the measurement of Rombhoids
4. Writing your initials correctly with proportion of the script
5. Similarities and differences in the scripts
6. Studying a few calligraphy works
7. Producing a Final draft on canvass
