When someone gives you reps, your reputation increases. When you distribute reps to others, your reputation power will increase. Simple enough :)

You need to be a full member (which requires a min. of 50 posts) to give reps and do the following.
view profiles of other members
* set the invisibility mode
* use custom title
* use signatures
* view profile pictures
* view private custom fields
* upload profile pictures
* send any private messages
* use the reputation system
Your rep power will increase depending on how many reps you give out.

One more question , does it have any connection with the post count ?
I remember in some forums ,the title of the member changes from newbie to permanent member or legend , for eg : when he crosses 100 posts or 1000 posts

Here's some info about rep points etc:
http://www.islamicboard.com/faq.php?...utation_system (though some things might be outdated)
I think there is a connection with post count... when you give reputation to someone else, then the amount they receive depends on 3 factors:
- your post count
- your time on the forum
- how much reputation you have yourself
And regarding the title of the member - it also changes by default though I can't remember the exact boundaries. The same happens for reputation - if you place your cursor over someone's rep power, it has a little description that varies depending on how much you have.

I don't think that is correct :hmm:
Rep power increases by 1 every 1000 reps you have. +1 for every month you are active and +1 for every 1000 posts...or something like that :X
See, mine must be like...
+11 for my reps.
+1 for my posts.
Not sure about the months :p

This is very useful.
I've been wondering all this time what rep power is and how does it compute, and now it's clear to me.
Jazakallah khair!
edit:
and Now I will become famous soon enough. woohoo!

You're able to do so by looking in your User CP - click on the thread title next to the name of the person who gave you reps and it should redirect you to your post. =)
