I do believe the children follow the father's religion and become muslim.
However, I don't know how heavy this will be implied if you are living in the west ( Europe or the US for example).

Hope that helps bro :)

I believe the children are supposed to be raised Muslim.

From my understanding that is why it is permissible for a Muslim man to marry a woman of a different faith and it is NOT permissible for a Muslim woman to marry a man of a different faith.

Because the children should follow the religion of the father.

Good question.

A colleague of mine, who is a Christian, married a Muslim man.
When she became pregnant they agreed that if the baby was a daughter, she would be raised in her mother's faith, and if a son, he would be raised as a Muslim.

As it happens, the child was a girl. They have not had any children since (firstly, my colleague was coming to the end of her child-bearing years when they met; and secondly, the marriage didn't last)

A person is not a muslim on the case of his birth or on the case of his blood line. But he is a muslim when he truly believes that there is only one God (Allah)and Muhammed is his messenger (pbuh).

There is no compulsion in Islam.

Yes there is no compulsion, but it is your duty as a muslim to raise the child upon islam and give him an islamic education. Thats why it isn't recommended to marry non-muslims for the risk of the child being brought up on disbeleif.

I'm pretty sure on the day of qiyaamah parents will be liable if they did misguided their children by not raising them as muslims or on islam teachings

All kids/children get birth upon the religion of nature, which is Islam. From Adam (PBUH) till Mohammad (PBUH) called people towards Islam and the only God, Allah.

Hence, a child at the time of birth is muslim. This is we who make him/her muslim / non-muslim.

I apologize that this may be off the topic but I couldn't help but wonder...is a Muslim man allowed to marry a non Muslim lady? sorry I'm a little confused by this as Ive never actually heard of this before. I thought when a Muslim man is in love with a non Muslim lady..the lady is supposed or is advised to convert to Muslim before the man can marry her? No?

but as of my understanding when the father is a Muslim and the wife isn't, the children should always be brought up by the father's religion(which is Islam of course) I don't believe there is any way around it. Then again, please correct me if I am wrong.
