we are having abit of trouble with our digital camera and was wondering that even if it has rechargeable batteries (which our camera does), do they still need replacing eventually because we seem to be recharging them more often then we should be, and when we do put then back in the camera, it seems to function strangely, for example "zoom in" takes you to the next picture or "zoom out" turns the volume up....and strange things like that? what is the cause of that?

how long have u been using those batteries? and from ur latter explanation, it doesn't seem to be a battery issue..more like a software problem..

the software might be a bit buggy if its a fairly new camera the problem wont be the batteries unless you were supplied with faulty batteries.

batteries decline over time......i would advice you to go to the manufacturer's website maybe there might be a firmware update that fixes the software mishaps.

rechargable batteries have a finite life time as well. Depending on how you use, it can increase wear and tear.

I suggest you to use Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries.

But from the problems, it seems to be a software issue, not battery issue. Maybe you can start by updating the firmware of the camera software.
