:sl:,

how could a person know that the spouse, s/he is going to marry is Allah-fearing?

a person may be praying 5 times a day, no drinking, no dating but for family or society. or maybe due to habits or customs.

so how can you tell that someone's heart truly beats for Allah's sake? that he/ she really worry about Allah's pleasure and hereafter. that she cant leave even a single salah or cant backbite even a single sentence due to Allah's fear?

it would be very :( that you marry someone and find out that she does not love/fear Allah as you thought.

We shouldn't do the things we do because we "Fear" Allah but we should do the things we do because we "Love" Allah. The word fear is a very negative word especially when relating to God.

well you would know straight away whether some ones heart beats for Allah or not because every word she will talk will be of Allah

and she would not want to talk about anything else not about any worldly things.

She/he would have a lot of wisdom and probably even start lecturing you on how you can be a good muslim also

She probably would even start teaching you a dua ;D

she would have a fair bit of knowledge about islam. she will be soft and gentle in her speech.

she will not be to loud or anything like that.

oh yeah and i almost forgot.. she will be modest looking :)

Love by itself is not enough. There has to be a balance between fear, love and hope in Allah's mercy.

If you have too much love and hope in Allah, you'll become complacent. You'll sin a lot and expect Allah to forgive in the end. Therefore, there has to be a healthy balance.

However, I don't think the OP had 'fear' of Allah in the English sense of the word in mind. He most probably was referring to 'taqwa'. I guess which translates to 'God consciousness'.

essentially, you dont. only allah truly knows whats in the hearts....you cant usually tell what conceals, internally...you just have to trust and judge what's at face value...so their actions, character, nature, etc...sometimes the true sincerity of people shines through without them even realizing it.

^^ best answer.. Only Allah swt knows what folks reveal and what they conceal.. surely you've heard of folks living on the path of those of paradise all their lives and then going to hell and vice versa? and as such du3a was created for one to make their best deeds their last and for Allah swt to make the heart steadfast on iman..

and Allah swt knows best
