Abu Dhabi: A group of Emirati volunteers were preparing to travel to Morocco on Monday to participate in the ongoing search and rescue operation for Shaikh Ahmad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (Adia) and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works.

Shaikh Ahmad went missing after a glider accident in Morocco on Friday, the Arabic newspaper Al Ittihad reported on Tuesday.

The search and rescue group came together as a team to offer assistance to the official search mission in Morocco because they felt it was a "national duty and that it was a spontaneous reaction", Al Ittihad reported.

Shaikh Ahmad was considered to be the one of the world’s youngest business executives and ranked 27th on the 2009 Forbes list of the world’s most powerful people

Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, 41, who heads Abu Dhabi’s sovereign investment fund — the largest of its kind in the world — crashed into a lake close to the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah dam, about 25 miles (40km) south of Rabat on Friday

The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority is believed to have assets worth some $627 billion (£420 billion), mostly in Europe and North America, and drawn largely from the Gulf emirate’s oil surplus. Traditionally secretive about its operations.

Adia is believed to have assets worth between $500-$700 billion, but Shaikh Ahmad or the authority never confirmed Adia’s asset size.

Shaikh Ahmad had always avoided the limelight and gave very rare statements to the media.

Among the first decisions he took as a managing director was increasing the budget for training and cooperation programs with internationally-renowned academic institutions such as Harvard University.

A number of people who closely worked with him for Adia said: "For us, Shaikh Ahmad was very humble and unpretentious, highly accurate and realistic in organising and planning."

Born in 1969, Shaikh Ahmad was the younger brother of Shaikh Khalifa and had little media exposure. He was one of the youngest business executives and was ranked 27th on the 2009 Forbes list of the world's most powerful people.

Shaikh Ahmad's engagements and work in economics did not kept him away from engaging in humanitarian and social work.Ever since he was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works in 1996, he directly followed up on the Foundation's work.

Throughout his career, Shaikh Ahmad made significant and practical successes. He is well known of engaging in charity work and volunteering for several humanitarian organisations and charities in the UAE and overseas.

He was also known for his humanitarian initiatives and passion for sports and falconry.

Shaikh Ahmad is survived by his son, Zayed, who was born in 2008.

Just Like his Father Sheikh Zayed Bin sultan Aal Nahyan He Loved to help people , taking part in many huminatarian missions and charitable causes.

May Allah forgive him and accept from him his good deeds and reward him and May Allah forgive him any shortcommings n sins and May Allah enter him into paradise and give patience to his family.
