What are some good recipes using Chick Peas / Gorbanzo Beans?

I sometimes just blend it with some oil, water, salt and chilli powder to eat it like Hummus. :ermm:

What else do you guys got for me?

Chick peas are healthy. If you're going to share recipes, make sure it's nothing fattening. Keep the healthy - healthy.

Chick peas lol its lebanese specialties.

First of all don't use canned chick peas cos it taste nothing like fresh ones.

I usually make it in the morning check this recipe its called fattai.

Ok if you are using canned peas , take it out rins it with hot water until the preservatives are out of it. Then put the peas in a large pane cover it with water leave it there even if it boiling just leave it.

Get 2 gloves of garlic mash them add 1 small spoon of salt to the mashed garlic then put them in a bowl.

Get half kilo of yogurt or a bit more then put it in the bowl and mix it good with the garlic then add 2 table spoons of sesame sauce to the yogurt and mix well . Add half lemon juice to it also mix well.

Get one loaf of lebanese bread and cut it into squares pieces like 2 cm a piece and put them in a bowl then add the hot chick peas on them then add the yogurt . Now last step get a another pan heat some lard like 1 table spoon and fry some pine nuts wait until it get the color light brown then poor it all with the lard on top of the yogurt . Enjoy . Lol.

Hummus recipe :p

I will tell you how to make the best hummus in the world lol

You gotta buy dried chick peas Cos it will taste So much better.

Ok lets say you want to have it at dinner So before you leave the house soak some in a deep big pan , lets say 2 cups of chick peas or half a kilo. Leave them untill you get back from work.

When your back put the pan on fire add 1 small spoon of salt and 1 small spoon of bi-carbonate cos it will accelerate the cooking . I'm not sure about the timing cos usually i check if the peas are soft after like 10 to 15 minutes. I try to slice one pea with a knife if its soft it means its cooked.

Now once its cooked put them in the blender add 1 lemon and 4 table spoons of sesame sauce.

Now get 3 big cloves of garlic ,mash them good and add put them in the blender ,add 1 table spoon of salt and its ready for mixing :) now it depends on your taste you can add more lemon to the mix. When its well mixed put it in a plate but spread it in a decorative way :D add olive oil .

And a side dish of vegetables like tomato ,cucumber ,green pepper ,mint ,spring onions , pickles,...

Enjoy :)

Garbonzos are one of the oldest and most versatile of foods. a long time staple in all of the Meditteranian, Mideast and Subcontinent regions. There are thousands of recipes.

Most of us in the USA only find the canned ones.

Try this site for a few hundred recipes using the canned ones: (You can probably adapt the same recipes for using dried ones)

I use the canned kind..... In a pot on the stove, put some chicken broth, chicken diced up, chickpeas, mushrooms, zucchini, garlic, and curry powder..... simmer until the chicken is cooked through and then spoon over rice. Sorry I can't give amounts. LOL I don't always use measuring cups when I cook. I just eyeball the amounts. :)

I make mine like this also except with canned ones. I learned to make hummus from a muslimah friend who was from Syria. :) When she would spread hers on the plate she would put down lettuce leaves, then spread it over it, put sliced up cherry tomatoes decoratively on top, and then drizzle the olive oil over it. It was so pretty at the end. She probably made it a variety of ways, but I only watched her make it once and these were what was available to buy when she and I went to the store. LOL
