Preach what you Practise...

Long ago...I heard from a friday speech the below...
when the imam was speaking about "Preach what you Practise"



From what i remember >>

Once a old lady came to Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) with her grandson... She complained that her grandson was eating too much sweets...She asked Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) to advice that little boy on that matter.....Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) asked her to come some days after... Then the next day..he adviced the boy that eating too much of sweets is not good for health....The lady asked Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) as to why he did not advice the other day... Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) replied that -- he was not elgible to advice the boy as he himself ( Prophet Muhammed (PBUH)) was fond of sweets.... and now he has controlled himself from eating much sweets

As far as I know this is not a hadeeth, but a very old story with a moral, either true or made up, to demonstrate the lesson: "practise what you preach".

There are many versions of this story, each of them differing in who the wise person was whom the child was brought to.

In various narrations, the person is:

- A wise old man,
- Nasiruddeen, a middle eastern sage of old,
- Imam Abu Hanifah (Rahimahullah),
- And even Gandhi!!!

So this story can be about anyone and everyone in order to demonstrate its moral.

However it is wrong of whoever first attributed it to Rasoolullah :saws: to do so if it never took place.
