parrot as pet?

is it okay to keep a parrot as a pet? we dont keep him closed in his cage or anything. he is very happy, but he does go to the bathroom everywhere, on the carpets and furniture everythingg! so does that make it haram to keep him? other than that he is a very clean animal always grooming himself.
 
i wouldn't want an exotic pet because they are plucked from the wild as babies, stolen from their parents. They are endangered and when you buy them you encourage poachers to keep on taking them from the wild..Birds aren't meant to be locked up in a cage or a house
