I was just reading on a website about OCD and islam, and there`s a sentence that totally agrees with my feelings on OCD:
"From an Islamic perspective, these unwanted thoughts are called wasawis (plural of waswasah), which are whispered into the minds and hearts of people by Ash-Shaytan (Satan)."

And so this made me think. Why doesn`t Allah just kill satan,as he`s making my life hell.;D
And allah is the creater after all so why can`t he get rid of satan?

cheers

Basically, when Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) was created and before he and his wife were cast out of heaven, Iblees (satan) was ordered by Allah to prostrate to Adam.

Now before Adam was created, Iblees was always 'obedient' to Allah and was a 'good' worshipper. However, when Allah ordered him to prostrate, he refused out of arrogance (believing himself superior to Prophet Adam, peace be upon him). Allah was displeased with this and promised iblees a horrible torment.

Iblees asked Allah for respite and promised to lead the offspring of Adam astray, so that they too would all be punished. Allah granted him this respite, meaning that Allah will let iblees do his evil deeds until the day of judgement.

It is important to understand that this world is a test for us all. Of course Allah could vanquish iblees just like that but he is there as a divine test for us. He will try to lead us astray so that we can all suffer with him in hell.

Besides whispering in your heart, there is'nt much more he can do. We tend to give him too much credit. We often do the wrong and blame Satan, yes he has his fair share of the blame, but he can't force you to do anything, he is not holding a Gun to your head.

The next time he whispers something to you throw him out immediately, stop that thought right there and then. Don't think about, ponder over it or anything at all, immediately tell him,
"This is the mind and heart of a muslim, don't build you Scrap yard here, no dumping allowed, go some place else to dump your rubbish, cos it won't work here."

The biggest mistake you can make is to start reasoning with him, he will bring all sorts of evil into your mind and make the most absurd and illogical things seem logical. If you don't let him inn, there is no need to fight him, if you let him in then try to fight him, you are more likely to fail than win. He is a master of treachery.

when a bad or unpleasant thought comes, don't fight it, rather let it go. fighting with it will only make it linger, it's how the brain works, so just go on about your day and don't pay it heed and it'll fade away.
