Solidarity & Remembrance of Muslim Prisoners Worldwide

9 years on still there is little respite for the real victims of the War on Terror. This event provides an opportunity to remember the victims of illegal rendition detainment and torture, control orders, SIAC court rulings and all other measures imposed to unlawfully strip Muslim prisoners in the UK and abroad of their dignity, freedom and liberties- 'guilty' either by association/ circumstance or for expressing an opinion/ voicing openly an authenticated article of faith.

This Iftar has been arranged to remember the plight of these prisoners and their families.

Guest Speakers:

* Imam Shakeel Begg (Redbridge Islamic Centre)
* Ustaadh Uthman Lateef (Hittin Institute)
* Ex-Detainees
* Family members
and many more insha'allaah

Featuring:

- Qur'aan Recitation
- Full Segregation
- Du'aa Qunoot
- Poetry reading
- Statements from representatives of Detainees and Muslim Prisoners
- Iftar for attendees
- Prayers to be performed on site

Date:
Sunday 29th August '10

"A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He does not oppress him, nor does he leave him at the mercy of others." Saheeh Muslim

Organised by the Muslim Prisoners Support Group (MPSG) and the Woolwich Dawah Network
Supported by the Tayyibun Institute, Helping Households Under Great Stress (HHUGS) and the Hittin Institute

Please try to attend and offer your support to the believers locked up in Belmarsh and elsewhere this Ramadhan. Make clear to our brothers and sisters that we stand with them against the oppression and injustice they're suffering. Jazak Allaah Khayr.

It is reported on the authority of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet, (صلى الله عليه و سلم), said:
Free the prisoner, feed the hungry and visit the sick.” (Saheeh al Bukharee #3046)

The Messenger of Allaah, (صلى الله عليه و سلم), said:
“The lives and blood of the Muslims are equal, the one who has the lowest status of them represents them and gives refuge to a person whom they dislike, and they are a single fist against others. The strongest of them will protect the weakest.”
(Ahmed, Abu Dawood, Saheeh Jami: 5690. Graded Saheeh by Shaykh al-Albani)
