Dating Sites for Muslims

While reading about Islamic dating sites here and there , I have often wondered what the status of dating in Islam. I do not have a personal experience of exploring these site in detail. I am not sure how do we treat dating for Muslim boys and girls on such sites? Any ideas?

Don`t you know that dating is haraam in Islam.

Any relationship between a non-mahram man or woman is haraam.

Dating is forbidden, those sites you speak off may be Marraige sites.

I've heard that dating is haraam unless you are viewing a potential spouse. Even then it has to be in limits.
