LOL that made me laugh :-\

Well its just some geeky business that admins can give you information about. I think its when someone repps you about 10 or some number, then it increases the number. Well i hope someone can clarify your geeky query for you, so that you may increase in happiness. maybe it shows how goo you are :-\, i thinks.

.. peace ..

I use rep power to click on the right uper corner, then if someone is being a troll I disaprove, if it was helpful I aprove, and then they get or lose rep. I'm pretty sure thats it.

When u use rep power you lose it, that's why you end up with 1. xD I wonder how much I got, I think I used it all on lisliking na's posts.

^nope the person you rep increases in rep power, you dont lose anything, it increases your rep power if they rep you back, or whenever someone reps, unless someone gives you a negative rep, you will know if the rep square is red:-\

I think rep power just depends on how long you've been a member.

edit: or maybe not.

Rep Power is the amount of rep points a person gets when you rep them. If you give them a neg rep 1/2 of your rep power is deducted from the person you neg rep.

Rep power increases based on the number of months you been a member, the amount of rep points you have and the number of posts you have made.

I forgot the exact formula but it is something like 1 rep power for each month you been here, one point for every 1000 reps you have been given and 1 point for every 1000 posts you have made.

OOOPs, I got something wrong. Based on that my rep power would be 214

Must be 1 point for every 5000 rep points you get

It decreases their rep power, see brother Woodrows post

Repp is short for reputation.

So the way to increase rep power is to stay active on this forum, give credit where credit is due and say something when there is something useful to be said, right? Sounds like a reasonable formula. btw is that a customized formula or is it available through the forum software?

If I'm not mistaken, the formula is 1 rep power = 2 months, or 2,000 reputations or 1,000 posts.

It's customized. I think the admins have also tweaked the old formula where they gave more weight to the number of posts.

There was already some thread explaining all this but I could not locate it

Assalaamu Alaaykum

Okay insha'Allaah i will try simplify it

When you rep someone, the person you rep their rep power increases, same happens when someone repps you.

If you give them a negative rep which is by clicking the red rectangle, the person you neg rep, their rep power ultimately decreases.

I think thats all, but do not hesitate to ask if you feel you want to know more insha'Allaah

.. peace ..

I think there is a bit more to it than meets the eye. For example, I have been on this forum for less than 60 days, have less than 1000 posts and definitely very much less than 2000 reputation points, yet I have 1 rep power. Not that I am complaining because now I can give credit where it is due. I think the main point would be to concentrate on being active on this forum because there is so much to learn. Certainly beats surfing porn sites by a very long way. Post whenever you have something useful to say. And always give credit where it is due. Also if you feel like giving vent to your anger at someone's post, this is what I suggest.

Write it all down on a piece of paper. Use your strongest and most vitriolic language. Then burn that piece of paper and flush it down the toilet bowl where it properly belongs. I am serious. Da'wah requires patience, patience and more patience. Insha Allah.

30 days membership = ~0.5 rep power
127 posts = ~0.1 rep power
950 rep = ~0.5 rep power

Total = ~1 rep power

That's interesting. So when I reach my 60th day here I should get 2 rep power?

red rectangle is actually to report a post to mods, not to give negative reps. You give negative reps by clicking the green rectangle and then tick on the disapprove option.

It does not necessarily decrease rep power, but most certainly decrease the rep points. Some notorious people on this forum have negative rep points.

Repping someone does not do anything to your rep points or your rep power. So it does neither increase nor decrease.
However, you only have a maximum number every 24 hours where you can give reps. I cannot remember how many. And you cannot rep someone twice before giving reps to a minimum number of other members.

x___X The calculus of IslamicBoard.

Is anyone else suspicious of Endymion for discreetly asking for reps? Isn't this an indirect way of asking for reps?

Kidding. :D
