:sl:

There was a time once when I used to send out this newsletter to my mailing list: Beautiful Islam Newsletter.

It was written specifically for new Muslims. That was way back in 2003.

I thought I would post some of those newsletters here..... in the hope it will benefit those who have recently accepted Islam.

This was the information I provided regarding my newsletter:

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah!

Are you a non-muslim who is curious about Islam? Or are you a new muslim? Did you know that it is mandatory for every muslim to seek knowledge? Seek profitable knowledge! Profitable knowledge is that which will benefit you in the Hereafter. I've observed that new muslims need special guidance after they say the Shahadah. Saying La ilaha il allah, Muhammad ar-rasul allah is the first step. But what does one do after that? It is vitally important for you to get an understanding about the fundamentals of Islam. You need to understand the following: why did God create man....why did He create Death....what is the purpose of our life.....what does Islam mean....how do we know that the Qur'an is the Word of God...what are the 5 pillars and why have they been prescribed....how do you pray.....what do you say in your prayers.....how do you do wudu (ablution)...what did the Prophet teach, say and do.....what is prohibited and why is it prohibited....what is the hijab and why do women wear it....the issue of wearing the niqab.....why God permits a man to have up to 4 wives.....who is Satan....what is the real meaning of jihad....how can you be a better muslim.....etc.
Beautiful Islam Newsletter examines the reason behind everything a muslim does. There is no place for blind faith in Islam. New Muslims will get an opportunity to understand the why behind many Islamic practices. As a subscriber you will learn invaluable lessons which you will not find elsewhere. I write all articles personally and am dedicated to give you information which is based solely on the Qur'an and Sunnah. This is important! There is only one group of believers who will go straight to paradise.......and that group is the one that adheres strictly to the Qur'an and Sunnah. Learn how you can be in that group!
Beautiful Islam Newsletter will be sent to you twice a week. Subscribe to this Newsletter today. Strengthen your Iman (faith)!!

From the Editor's Desk

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu! (May peace, blessings
and the mercy of Allah be upon you!)

Alhamdulillah! Here's the first edition of Beautiful Islam
Newsletter.......a very special newsletter for non-muslims who want to
know more about Islam AND for new muslims who are just starting out.
Islam is the religion of reason and common sense NOT blind faith or
superstition. In fact, I always say if something doesn't make sense,
"That is not Islam".
I was thinking of naming this newsletter Islamic Boot-Camp or
something......a crash course in Islam. Why? Because a person new to
Islam has really got a ton of things to learn, and I know that it can be
pretty overwhelming at first. Where do you start? What must you do?
What must you NOT do? Above all, what is the reason behind the things
you do or don't do? I don't think there is any sense in doing something
without understanding why you are doing it. A proper understanding of
the fundamentals is therefore crucial and essential. I urge all
non-muslims to carefully consider the articles and information in this
newsletter.
Muslims know that Islam is the Truth. But how do you know it is?
Well.......that is the purpose of this newsletter.........to provide you
with undeniable evidence that Islam IS the true religion. Read on!

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Saying of the Day
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Most of the sins committed by the son of Adam are sins of the tongue.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Straight Talk: There is only One Truth
------------------------------------------------------------------

In a world full of people having different opinions and views about
life, how can we ascertain what the truth is?

Only one out of many possibilities, theories and beliefs is the truth.
Anything other than that truth is false.

Our planet earth is round in shape and revolves around the sun. That
is the truth. Any other statement other than this would be false.
Hence, people who once believed that the earth was flat, and that the
sun revolved around the earth were very much mistaken. They could
believe in the flatness of the earth as much as they liked, but that did
not make it the truth.

When students are tested in an examination, they are asked several
questions. In a general knowledge test, for example, they may be asked
questions like who built the Taj Mahal, or who invented the telephone,
or who was the first man to set foot on the moon. Each question has
only one correct answer. All answers besides that answer are incorrect.
And there is no limit to the number of incorrect answers people may
give.

Let's say in a playground where several children are playing, little
Richard comes across a scorpion. He kills it by crushing it under his
boot. If anyone were to say that Jane killed the scorpion, it would be
an untruth. Tim didn't do it, Betty didn't do it, Simon didn't do it.
Richard's dog also didn't do it. Not having been actually present
during the killing of the scorpion, we could come up with lot of
theories to explain its death. In fact, the number of theories people
may come up with can be endless...........One might even say that it was
a goblin that was responsible for killing the scorpion. Another may say
it was an alien from outer space. Or another may claim it was a gorilla
that had escaped from the zoo. A person could come up with many bizarre
ideas! But only one possibility is the truth, and anything other than
that truth is false.

Out of the numerous theories, we may like to think that nobody could
possibly believe that a goblin, or an alien from outer space or a
gorilla may have killed the scorpion. However, that is not the case at
all. In this world we can find quite a number of people who do believe
in unreasonable, irrational, illogical and fantastic theories. In other
words, you will find people believing in apparent falsehood even though
reason and good sense suggests that the truth has to be something else!!

There can be only one Truth. You can believe whatever you like but
remember to keep in mind one point...........it MUST make sense! And
you must have evidence that gives you a clue. In the forthcoming issues
I shall go over this subject in more detail. Don't miss!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sura of the Day: Surat-al-Faatiha
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Every muslim must know this sura by heart preferably in Arabic. Your
prayers are not valid if you do not recite this sura.

1. bi- ism 'allaah ar- rah.maan ar- rah.eem
2. al- h.amdu li- l'allaahi- rabbil al-aameen
3. ar- rah.maan ar- rah.eem
4. maaliki yawmidd-een
5. eyaa -ka na'budu wa- 'eyaa -ka nasta'een
6. ihdi -nas s.iraat. al- mustaqeem
7. s.iraat. 'alladheena an'amta 'alay -him ghayr al- maghd.obi alay
-him wa- laa ad.- d.aalleen

I reproduce here the English translation of the above verses.

1. In the name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful.
2. Praise be to Allah the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds.
3. Most Gracious Most Merciful.
4. Master of the Day of Judgment.
5. Thee do we worship and Thine aid we seek.
6. Show us the straight way.
7. The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, Those
whose (portion) is not wrath and who go not astray

--------------------------------------------------------------------
The Sunnah
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Qur'an is recited in every prayer and in those
prayers in which Allah's Apostle recited aloud for us,
we recite aloud in the same prayers for you; and the
prayers in which the Prophet recited quietly, we recite
quietly. If you recite "Al-Fatiha" only it is sufficient but
if you recite something else in addition, it is better.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quiz Time!
--------------------------------------------------------------
1. What are the 5 pillars of Islam?
2. What does the word islam mean?

The answers to these questions will be given in the next issue.
