I have a serious question to ask. I hope you guys remember me.

Is it permitted to do my prayers in the English language? I'm worried that if I do my prayer in English, it's not acceptable. I know some of the Arabic text, such as Allahu Akbar, but I don't speak much Arabic and English is really the only language I know. I'm learning some Indonesian from my girlfriend. I'm just worried that by doing the prayers in English is wrong or not acceptable. What language do most of you pray in?

Assalamualaikum, Dwayne. Apa kabar ? baik baik saja ?

Which prayer do you mean ? salah or du'a ?
In salah we are not allowed to use language that not Arabic. But in du'a we can use English, Urdu, Germany, or other languages.

Assalaamu alaikum brother Dwayne, and welcome back.

You might find the website muslimconverts.com helpful. Specifically this page, which has links for a beginner's prayer guide, and an advanced prayer guide:

http://www.muslimconverts.com/prayer/index.htm

In the beginner's prayer guide, here, http://www.muslimconverts.com/prayer...ers_prayer.htm for the simplified form, there is a brief explanation of the prayers, where shorter Arabic phrases in praise of Allah are used until you can learn the surahs (short chapters) that are usually recited.

Click on the link for each prayer name for step by step simplified instructions for each prayer. For example, these are the step by step instructions for the Fajr prayer (between dawn and sunrise), with pictures and words to be said: http://www.muslimconverts.com/prayer...-newmuslim.htm. Have a browse of the links.

Hope that's of some help, but if not, or if you'd like further clarification, please do let us know.

Peace.

Thank you both for your replies. Sister, I will definitely check out those sites. That's what I really need is help in prayer. I still have yet to make my Shahadah official. I'm hoping to go to a mosque very soon. I've never been to one in my entire life! Thank you both, brother and sister! God Bless! :)
