AMD processor? Mmm, Not bad but Intel chips are far superior

Are you sure? People told me they're both the same thing but with Intel you're paying for the brand name, like designer clothes lol.

depends, some amd cpus are viciously powerful, still, i stick to intel as they are generally more powerful and cheaper second hand due to wide availability, i also find them to be reliable.

intel's sandy bridge has made leaps and bounds past amd though

AMD is definitely better on a budget. You should be able to unlock an additional core too. I don't know about the X2 but on the X3's this is possible (I've done it). X3 is only a few more pounds so might be worth considering.

Btw the hard drive is a rip off :p (also it's probably better to use that one as a secondary drive).

Yeah I heard cos of the flooding in Thailand or something the prices went up, how come it's better to use it as a secondary and not primary??

You got a link for the X3?? :p

the expensive one which holds all your data would spin less, get searched less and written on less and therefore be likely to last a lot longer, you can also keep an image of your c drive on it in order to be able to restore to another drive when it conks out.

notice carefully that some items only begin spinning when you hit "my computer"

as i mentioned, i got a 2tb for £70 only a couple of months back, the impact of the floods should hopefully wear off soon,
in any case, if it drags on - china is quick at spotting business opportunities and will mass release them.

but if you're bent on getting it, i would personally buy an external and take out the drive:

then i'd have a hdd for much cheaper, and have a free caddy

^I'm confused about getting AMD or Intel, is the difference in performance really noticeable?

depends on use and cost,
i usually buy used so i go with intel at the price of new amd,
but as one guy said:

AMD beats Intel in the Price/Quality ratio by a longshot. Intel makes better processors but you have to sell a kidney and a leg to purchase one.. END OF THE ******* DISCUSSION!

Well after giving it much thought I've decided to go with Intel i5, I want to play BF3 and to play that a 4 core processor is recommended. I know AMD have 6 core one out, but it's only 30 pounds cheaper than Intel's i5 so I may as well just go with that.
