Jabir (Radi Allah Anhu) reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said:
Iblis places his throne upon water; he then sends detachments (for creating dissension) ; the nearer to him in tank are those who are most notorious in creating dissension. One of them comes and says: I did so and so. And he says: You have done nothing. Then one amongst them comes and says: I did not spare so and so until I sowed the seed of discord between a husband and a wife. The Satan goes near him and says: 'You have done well. A'mash said: He then embraces him.[Sahih Muslim: Book 039 'Kitab Sifat Al-Qiyamah wa'l Janna wa'n-Nar', Number 6755]

In order to make a contact,Humans uses mediumship while Jinns have ability to shape shifts and/or taking materialized form.No matter who takes the initiative, its forbidden in Islam. We are not supposed to know whats going on in their realm because we are not allowed to do so.Any stories relating to Muslim Jinn to Muslim Human contact don't hold authoritative value.

With this highlighted statement,I guess you know the following:
He said: "Give me respite till the day they are raised up."
(Allah) said: "Be thou among those who have respite."
He said: "Because thou hast thrown me out of the way, lo! I will lie in wait for them on thy straight way:
"Then will I assault them from before them and behind them, from their right and their left: Nor wilt thou find, in most of them, gratitude (for thy mercies)."
(Allah) said: "Get out from this, disgraced and expelled. If any of them follow thee,- Hell will I fill with you all.
—Quran sura 7 (Al-Aʻraf), ayah 14-18
But you need to know this too:
Although his request was granted, Allah also warns Shaytaan that he would have no authority over his sincere ʻubūd 'devoted servants'.
"As for My servants, no authority shalt thou have over them:" Enough is thy Lord for a Disposer of affairs.
—Quran, sura 17 (Al-Isra), ayah 65

Ibn Masud, Ibn Abbas and a group of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that Iblis had been the head of the angels in the worldly heavens. Ibn Abbas said in one narration that his name had been Azazil and in another narration he said it had been Al Harith. Ibn Abbas also said that Iblis was a jinn and that they had once been the keepers of Paradise, with Iblis the most honorable and the most learned and the most pious of them.
(Excerpt from Stories of the Prophets by Ibn Kathir)
Shaytaan(plural:Shayateen) is the common name used for the followers of Iblis and often used interchangeably for Iblis himself.Lets not confuse yourself.
