One of the du'as said in the funeral prayer (from the sunnah):
'O Allaah, forgive and have mercy upon him, excuse him and pardon him, and make honorable his reception. Expand his entry, and cleanse him with water, snow, and ice
, and purify him of sin as a white robe is purified of filth. Exchange his home for a better home, and his family for a better family, and his spouse for a better spouse. Admit him into the Garden, protect him from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the Fire.’
This is a time when the blessings of Allah descend from the heavens, and so it is also one of the times when the du'a of a worshipper is accepted.
Sahl ibn Sa'd narrated that the Prophet :saws: said:
"Two are the du'as that are never returned: the du'a made when the prayer is being called, and at the time of rainfall."
(Abu Dawud 3540, al-Haakim 2/114)
The Prophet :saws: also said:
"Seek the response to your du'as when the two armies meet, and the prayer is called, and when rain falls."
And Allah knows best.
