View Full Version : Eating meat = Wearing Fur = Wrong?

Alright my Muslim brothas and sistas. Gotz a question.

If Muhammad preached back in the day animals shouldn't be killed for fur since it was taking away the flame of life for luxury and that is a disrespect to life since it is sacred; then why are animals killed for meat today?

Back then there must have been a need to consume meat due to lack of food; but we as the human race have transcended that need as vegetables/fruit/dairy are available in ridonkulously massive amounts virtually everywhere and now it is merely a luxury in the form of pleasing taste buds, as fashion pleases fashion....buds? >_>

Therefore it disrespects and devalues life.

If Muhammad was around today, he might've agreed. ^_^

Thanks in advance for responses ^_^.

who said you can't use the fur of the animal? You can't kill it (as far as I can tell) purely for sports but yeah you can eat it and wear it.. make use of it!

Interesting question but I have to disagree with what you've written above. There are many people, even in the UNITED STATES who cannot afford good quality meat to feed their families with. Vegetables/dairy/fruit are also not available in ridiculously abundant amounts that are affordable for most people. Fast food is cheaper than fresh fruits and vegetables and even then many at local food markets are filled with GMOs. Real food is becoming more and more rare.

Even then, I respect the decision of people who chose to be vegetarians but I think that meat is something that most humans need to replenish. But again, even the meat industry is troublesome because of the awful techniques and the horrible things that animals are fed to bulk them up.

I don't think it disrespects or devalues life to eat an animal to survive or to use its fur for warmth. Especially for those in the Inuit tribes in Canada, Greenland, Alaska who need it to stay warm and alive.

I think what is disrespectful and devaluing to life is the way the food industry has been hijacked and people are forced toward unhealthy food choices that often times shorten life spans and cause health problems due to healthier food being more costly.

And that's just in developed countries. Imagine what it's like for people in less developed parts of the world who don't even have access to fruits and vegetables let alone meat. No, what is disrespectful and devaluing to life is how they don't have access to food at all and are constantly living in poverty and surrounded by violence.

Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him) didn't make the law regarding eating animals. God did. And God knows the future so it's not like He made a law that wasn't right for this time. The fact is that animal protein is very important for the human body. have you seen vegetarians. they are so weak because they don't eat meat.
