If a person falls into a sin that necessitates Taubah [repentance] is it obligatory that a person repents immediately? Allah the Most High says, "And those who, when they have committed Fahishah (illegal sexual intercourse etc.) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins; - and none can forgive sins but Allah - And do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know. " [3:135] Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullah] said, "indeed hastening towards repenting from the sins is obligatory immediately and it is not permissible to delay it" [Madaarijus-Saalikeen 1/272] Imaam An-Nawwawi [rahimahullah]said, "It is agreed upon that indeed Taubah [repentance] from every sin/disobedience is obligatory and that verily it is obligatory immediately and it is not permissible to postpone it whether it be al mausiyyah sagheerah aw kabeerah [a small sin or disobedience or a great sin or disobedience]." [Sharh Saheeh Muslim 17/59] Extracted from [Sifatu Taubah Al-Mubtadi3 pg.18] by Abu Sufyaan Az-Zayla'ee [hafidhahullah].

^Jazak Allah khayr Brother.

To add to the topic..

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The (scribe) on the left hand raises his pen (i.e., delays writing) for six hours before he records the sinful deed of a Muslim. If he regrets it and seeks Allahs forgiveness, the deed is not recorded, otherwise it is recorded as one deed." [At-Tabarani]

Thus we must hasten in repenting. Why wait when The Merciful is ready and waiting to forgive. Subhan Allah.

Assalaamu Alikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh

Whenever someone does something wrong and then realise that he has sinned ; must hasten to repentance and asking Allah His forgiveness . None knows, now we may have a chance to repent but later we are not sure if living another moment to postpone our regret and repentance to Allah....then what to tell Allah when meeting HimThe Exalted...was thinking about it??? its not enough...

and btw, all sins need repentance when you do recognise them and realise that you are sinning....

May Allah love ya , Be pleased with ya and guide your way to Him always and make ya from the best of His servants and slaves Ameeen

none is an angel but still will try our best to please our Lord our Love Whom we only live for His sake; seeking His eternal love and pleasure...

may Allah help us to worship Him right Ameeeen

even sins we do not know and never recognise nor realise ; we do need to ask Allah's forgiveness for what we know about and what we don't...

"Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people." (286) Surat Al Baqarah O Allah forgive our sins which we have known about and we have not known about O Allah Ameen

For Allah forgiveness you have to feel sorry on your deed and promise with Allah that you will never involve in such activity again.

Looking at the Asmaul Husna, we see several names that relate to Allah being a 'forgiver'.

Yes, there are sayings as above mentioned. Best to seek forgiveness immediately because we really do not know when we will leave this life so it serves no benefit to delay it. I suppose the delay in seeking forgiveness is probably due to some other ulterior motives? That we cannot guarantee to avoid it in the future. Hence we do not want to repeatedly ask for forgiveness only to do it again.

Technically, we have time until the hour when the opportunity is no longer available. So, best to avoid sinning in the first place (easier said than done), praying, plenty of istghfar in between prayers, and keep the intentions pure by reminding ourselves that we do things for Allah. Hopefully then, we do not do things that will incite His wrath.
