My friend entered his details into a scam site and even sent a image of his bank statement when they asked for proof of ID. He's closed his bank account but is still worried he could end up being victim of identity fraud since they have his name address etc. Who are you supposed to report this to? Since no crime has happened yet but is likely to happen in the future.
i think it is best he gets legal advice regarding this. identity theft can cause great damage. there have been cases where a person's name and other information was used to get loans and the person then had to face a bad credit history although they themselves hadn't done anything. they couldn't get loans, credit card, college loans etc. because of the bad credit history. and it took a long time to clear their name and it alos cost them a lot. so find out from legal sources what your reltive should do. also search "identity theft" online. you might get suggestions and also stories of cases of identity theft.
