Ibn Qayyim [rahimahullah said:

The Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa sallam] gathered between the Taqwaa of Allah and Husnul Khuluq [Exemplary Lofty Mannerisms], and that is because Taqwaa of Allah rectifies what is between the slave [of Allah] and his LORD, and exemplary lofty mannerisms rectifies what is between him [the slave of Allah] and creation, so Taqwaa of Allah necessitates for him [the slave of Allah] the Love of Allah and husnul khuluq becomes a cause for the people to love him [the slave of Allah]."

Al Fawaa'id pg.72

And Alee Ibn Abee Taalib [radhiya Allahu anhu] defined Taqwaa as:

عرّف علي بن أبي طالب التقوى فقال: هي الخوف من الجليل والعمل بالتنزيل والقناعة بالقليل والاستعداد ليوم الرحيل.`

At-Taqwaa is having reverencial fear of Al Jaleel [one of Allah's beautiful Names] and actions in accordance with At-Tanzeel [revelation from the Qur'aan and Sunnah] and sufficing oneself with Qaleel very little and actively preparing oneself for the Day of returning back[ to Allah]"
