A very important reminder:
Nearness to Allah (subhanawataála) will never be attained until be guard our senses from the fitnahs that surround us.
If you have noticed that your salaah is not bringing you any contentment, and your heart is feeling distanced from Allah azza wajjal, then ask yourself why?
Truly, you will find something that you are engaged in, that is causing Allah Taa'la immense displeasure.
These hearts will never know true love for Allah and His Nabi (sallalahu alaihi wasalam), until their gazes are lowered.
