View Full Version : Sura 2:173 - when eating pork does not make you guilty

I had some questions about this passage.
The Yusif Ali translation reads, "He hath only forbidden you dead meat, and blood and
the flesh of swine, and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that
of Allah. But if one is forced by necessity without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing
due limits then is he guiltless. For Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful".
What is meant by eating dead meat and why is it forbidden?
Can someone give me some examples of a Muslim who was forced by necessity to eat pork,
drink blood, or eat food where a foreign god's name has been invoked on it? And forced
by whom?
Peace,
Jim

Dead meat means, something that died without human intervention. You can't find a dead cow that died of natural causes and eat it..
Also...as for eating pork or any other non-halal food. Let's say you are in the wilderness, you are starving...only thing around are wild pigs, by necessity you must eat the pig to survive.
