I have been diving into religion the last 8 years. Somehow my subjective experience is that there's a God. One God, and that this God is a good God demanding us as humans being good persons. My interest has led me finally to islam. I have read the Quran before and found it to be in every aspect a great book. Because of my sparked interest for islam I have ordered the Quran again and it will hopefully arrive this week. :-)

My question is this. I want to begin practicing islam. But I don't know where to start. Where should one start?

I would suggest that you get and read the booklet "A Brief Illustrated Guide to Understanding Islam". You can read it online, as well. It is a short but great book that will tell you everything about the main concepts in this religion.

And :welcome::welcome::welcome:

Why, of course, start from the beginning. Proclaim the shahadah. Then pray. The easiest way to learn how to pray is to find someone who knows how to, to show you. Then learn more. And pray more. Yes, pray more. There are lots of interesting things to do with regards to praying in Islam. Besides the mandatory prayers, there are also all kinds of supplementary prayers. It gets more and more intriguing as you go along.

Mashallah May allah give us guidance and make this deen easy on us.
The first pillar in islam is the shahadah thats where you would have to start . You simply would have to say la ilaha illallah wa ashadu anna mahammadur-rasoolulah(I bear witness and I testify that there is no deity except allah and muhammad is his messenger). Once this is said sincerly(inside your heart only you and allah knows if you are sincere)you are muslimm. It is simple I reccommend you read quran but dont read it like any other book, read it as if you are seeking the guidance from allah (swt)and what allah says do you try to applicate that to your life. And what he says for you to forbid you forbud. Also you should get this book called kitab-at tauhid- this book will give you understanding of allah and the concept of la ilah ill allah.

Hello.

Welcome to the forum . May Allah makes it easy for u to accept and keep firm on Islam .

Utter the Shahada first , then try to learn about worship Allah in proper way . Don't try to learn many things in short time , go slow and be steady .

Welcome to the forum!

May your journey into discovery on islam be a spiritually fulfilling one. Learn and understand the pillars of islam. Reading about the prophets (part of the pillars) will give you a good understanding (from Adam (pbuh) to Muhammad (saw).

Peace :shade:
