Assalamu alaikum everyone.

Here are the five entries for the IB Poetry Contest! Please vote for the poem you like the best. You have up to 14 days to place your vote. This vote is open to IB admins, mods, and members but not to poetry contestants so if you submitted a poem for the competition, please do not vote. Poem 1

The night, when it drowns
It chokes on its own blueness
And gives off inscrutable hues
Perhaps not meant for human eyes
I have taken a moment or two
To tunnel into its depth
Strident for the night vigil
So drunk of sleep and it mars it
Driving into its four corners
Suppliant with all my might
Into that other realm of shadowy towers
The one that exists to taunt me
Limits my sight and heightens my grief to what it wants me to see
And gives so little in return to my full devotion
Spilling off names & words fully veiled
To things that exist somehow
Yet far beyond my reach
And I know it is as close as I'll ever get
To the most sober perception.....

Poem 2

Ruqyah...

spoke to the islamic exorcist,
i was reluctant but he really did insist,
he told me to come around,
something inside me didnt like the sound,
my heart started to really pound,
he gave me his address which i easily found,
soon as i got to his front door,
i had this feeling for sure,
that something inside was going to collide,
if i said i wasnt worried then i would have lied,
but i know Allah is on the believers side,
thinking i hope this doesnt happen to my next of kin
as he opened the door n invited me in,
he told me to sit,
n relax for a bit,
i told him how i feel,
he said dont worry Allah will heal,
he pointed to the Quran and said look,
im only going to pray from that holy book.
i didnt expect to shake but then i suddenly shook,
he said if your ready we better make a start,
i could feel something constricting my heart,
felt like i was in need of some doctors and nurses,
when he started praying the verses,
where Allah curses,
those who practice the evil occult,
trying to make my life so difficult,
happiness in me,
is what they dont wanna see,
full of hatred n jealousy,
when it comes to this earth so envious,
but to the punishment of the hereafter so oblivious,
now it wouldnt be so tragic,
if someone didnt do black magic,
they put on me an hex,
i couldnt believe what happened next,
it was on another level,
i knew this was the work of the devil,
evil people using forces of the unseen,
the believers will know exactly what i mean,
its like i wasnt in control,
one minute i was sitting n the next i would fall,
its like i had no choice,
suddenly came out of me a voice,
shouting i was sent here on a mission,
from the evil magician,
the raqi carried on praying,
the voice said i wont be staying,
i promise to leave,
but the raqi didnt believe
he carried on praying,
n eventually it left,
but i was the one who was left,
feeling drained n weak,
wasnt in the mood to speak,
lost for words,
not much to say,
definitely not an ordinary day...

Poem 3

My heart broke at the sight of Syria
what had happened? what went wrong?
where did they take the wrong path?
it all seemed to be going so great,
the developments, the improvements,
and then one day, things suddenly changed.
where did they go wrong? take the wrong path? go the wrong way?
One moment, the regime loved its people
and the people loved the government
and then suddenly, it all went the wrong, took a 360 degree turn,
what happened? what went wrong?
Someone lost their mind, it made no sense
So many people died. burnt. bombed. starved.
and for what? what was gained?
nothing. at all!
and you can't but help wonder,
what went wrong? how did this happen?
this is the nafs. Nafs.
It can make you do things you never anticipated.
a little power can make you do terrible things
and you justify them.
you think, despite all your wrongdoings, you are on the right and they are on the wrong.
Power. It can make you blind.
Makes your nafs do things you never thought.
the nafs can make you blind.
take note and do not let it wrong you.
or all you'll see is a blur.
and you'll do things terrible.
Take note. Do not let it wrong you.
And remember Prophet Joseph's words: "And I do not acquit myself. Indeed, the soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil, except those upon which my Lord has mercy. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."

Poem 4

I feel his presence ever so near
No breathing or shadow or footsteps to hear

His appearance unknown his intention so clear
But his lurking and waiting increasing my fear...

He has two guises and two shows planned
One so pure... The other so ****ed...

His hands await a time set in stone...
When the time comes... No coming back home...

Destiny has a plan for you...
You've read this... Now what will you do?

Poem 5

The Life Test.

Ultimately, I don’t know. I pray His mercy shows.
He is the One, the Fairest Judge.
May I be blessed no matter where I trudge.

Then I have temptations and vice,
Not everything nice,
An experience that’s a steal,
But like walking through a minefield

An experience to last, an experience that’s quick and fast
Either rare like gold, or everywhere and cold
Get burn and learn or get burnt burn, burn
Still somehow never learn

I am strong, I have mind to think
Of the rewards, not now but the hereafter
I am weak, I think I'm going to sink
I want so much, the fun and laughter

My flesh is screaming, my mind is racing
My ears and eyes explodes with the info
So much, too much! My senses are crashing
I ask what am I really in for?

I’m born alone and I die alone,
Into a different realm I will be thrown
Where I‘ll be asked of deeds I’ve sown
Did I live a life that’s fair
Or did I take off other’s share?

As I sail along this life of test
With uncertainties and doubts like all the rest
How easy I find it is to stray
And throw all chances of good away
For the short term gains that I’ll have to pay

As we approach the end of time
The world is filled with slander and slime
It’s hard to stay in purity
For the path we seek in eternity
I pray ‘Ya Allah, watch over me’….

I never feel agreed to everything she wrote on IB forums but she was a very passionate Muslim,a dreamer who wants Muslims to regain their former glory choosing the right way.Unfortunately,Like many,she didn't return back due to the bad phase we had updating vbulletin versions.May Allah give her a life of peace along with eeman,Aameen

For the rest of the pack,its just a matter of place and the way we see it,Everyone of YOU is a Winner!

Jazaka Allah khyran for the kind comment, and for the two lovely sisters who informed me and the wonderful people who voted and congrats to all the participants as someone already mentioned you're all winners.. and in light of your comment about our former glory, here's an excerpt in Arabic about the battle of Mohacs where the Muslims defeated the Europeans under leadership of Sultan suliman Alqanooni and an accompanying scene from youtube with translation to that magnificent history to those who don't speak Arabic:



موقعة موهاكس الخالدة ......
تعالوا نسترجع يوماً من أيام الإسلام ...

هل سمعتم عن موقعة موهاكس ؟؟ إنها ليست معركة، بل كانت مذبحة....
بأختصار أخوتي:
ذهب مبعوث سليمان القانوني لأخذ الجزية من ملك المجر وزعيم أوروبا وقتها: "فيلاد يسلاف الثاني"،
وكانت المجر هي حامية الصليبية في أوروبا وقتها، فقام بذبح رسول سليمان القانوني بأشارة من البابا في الفاتيكان،
فقد استعدت الكنيسة وأوروبا جيدا ..
( جر خناق ) ..
فجهز سليمان القانوني جيشه، وكان عبارة عن 100 ألف مقاتل، و350 مدفع، و800 سفينه.
وحشدت أوروبا جيشها، وكان عدده 200 ألف فارس.. منهم 35 ألف مقنع كاملا بالحديد
سار سليمان لمسافة حوالي 1000 كيلوا (طول مصر)، وفتح معظم القلاع في طريقه لتأمين خطوط انسحابه، لو حدثت هزيمة لا قدر الله، واجتاز بقواته نهر الطولة الشهير، وانتظر في وادي موهاكس، جنوب المجر، وشرق رومانيا، منتظرا جيوش أوروبا المتحدة بقيادة فيلاد والبابا نفسه ..
كانت مشكلة سليمان التكتيكية هي كثرة فرسان الرومان والمجر المقنعين بالحديد.. فتلك الفرسان لا سبيل لإصابتهم بالسهام أو الرصاص أو المبارزهة، لتدريعهم الكامل ..
فماذا يفعل ؟
صلى الفجر، ووقف قائلا لجنوده: وهم ينظرون لجيوش أوروبا المتراصة، التى لا يرى الناظر آخرها، قائلا لهم بصوت باكٍ:
( إن روح النبي محمد تنظر إليهم بشوق ومحبة ) فبكى الجنود جميعا واصطفّ الجيشان ..
اعتمدت خطة سليمان على الآتى:
وضع تشكيل جيشه بطريقة 3 صفوف على طول 10 كم ..
ووضع قواته الإنكشارية في المقدمة، وهم الصفوة، ثم الفرسان الخفيفة في الصف الثاني، معهم المتطوعة والمشاة ...
وهو والمدفعية في الصف الأخير ...
وهجم المجريون عقب صلاة العصر على حين غِرة، فأمر سليمان قوات الانكشارية بالثبات والصمود ساعة فقط، ثم الفرار...
وأمر الصف الثاني الفرسان الخفيفة والمشاة بفتح الخطوط والفرار من على الأجناب، وليس للخلف...
وبالفعل صمدت الانكشارية الأبطال، وأبادت قوات المشاة الأوروبية كاملة في هجومين متتاليين، بقوات بلغت عشرين ألف صليبي في الهجمة الوحدة..
وانقضَّت ( القوة الضاربة ) للأوربيين وهي قوات الفرسان المقنعة بالكامل، ومعها 60 ألفاً آخرين من الفرسان الخفيفه ..
وحانت لحظة الفرار وفتح الخطوط .. وانسحبت الانكشارية للأجناب وتبعتها المشاة... وأصبح قلب الجيش العثماني مفتوحا تماما... ودخلت قوات أوروبا بقوة 100 ألف فارس مرة واحدة نحو قلب القوات العثمانية ..
فماذا كانت الكارثة..!
أصبحوا وجها لوجه أمام المدافع العثمانية مباشرة على حين غرة.. والتى فتحت نيرانها المحمومة وقنابلها عليهم من كل ناحية.. ولساعة كاملة انتهى الجيش الأوروبى..!
أصبح من التاريخ ..
وحاولت القوات الأوروبية فى الصفوف الخلفية الهرب لنهر الطولة فغرقوا وداسوا بعضهم البعض، فغرق الآلاف منهم تزاحما، وسقط الفرسان المقنعين، بعد أن ذاب الحديد عليهم من لهب المدافع ..
واراد الجيش الأوروبى الاستسلام ..
فكان قرار سليمان الذي لن تنساه أوروبا له حتى الآن وللأتراك العثمانيين وتذكره بكل حقد:
لا أسرى ..!
واخذ الجنود العثمانيون يناولون من يريد الأسر من الأوروبيين سلاحه ليقاتل أو يذبح حيا ..!
وبالفعل قاتلوا قتال الميئًوس واليائس..
وانتهت المعركة بمقتل فيلاد، والأساقفة السبعة الذين يمثلون المسيحية، ومبعوث البابا، وسبعون ألف فارس... ورغم هذا، تم أسر 25 ألفاً كانوا جرحى ...
وتم عمل عرض عسكري في العاصمة المجرية من قبل العثمانيين، وقبَّل الجميع يد سليمان تكريما له، بما فيهم الصدر الأعظم، ونظم شئون الدولة ليومين.. ورحل ...
وانتهت أسطورة أوروبا والمجر، وجيوشهم العثمانيين خسروا 1500 شهيدا، وجرح 3000 آلاف، والجيش في كامل قوته لم يُستنزَف أبداً...!
ملحوظة :
هذه المعركة أغرب معركة في التاريخ، من حيث سرعة الحسم، وما زالت تثير تساؤلات واستهجان وحقد ودهشة البعض من المؤرخين الأوربيين...
انشروها كي يعرف المسلمين معنى العزة و النصر...
