Mine will be Surat Maryam (Chapter 19) I really love this surah I keep listening to it over and over, I'm aware that there's no surah better than the other.

What is the surah/ayah that you can't stop reading or listening to?

Thinking about it, mine would be Surah Ya-Sin. It is biggest and hardest surah I memorized as a kid. My grandfather who was a hafiz and also my teacher was proud of me. Mom made me pizza for dinner that night :)

That’s a nice story Iceee, Surat Ya-Sin was very hard to memorize for me as well when I was a kid and I still make mistakes when I try to recite the last 8 verses of Surat Ya-Sin.

What a coincidence :) Just earlier I mentioned mine a fellow sister! Of what I have read, Al' Adiyat, though I haven't read the entire Qu'ran yet so perhaps that will change.

I enjoy reading the Quran, I particularly read Surah Baqarah regularly, even reading 50 verses a day, makes you complete it less then a week.

I have also been reading regularly:-;-

Surah Yasin (36)
Surah Waqiah (56)
Surah Mulk (67)
Surah Alaq (96)
Surah Infitar (82)
Ayat al-kursi (regularly)
The last 5 surahs including Surah Nasr were thanking Allah when he has provided so much.

Now I started reading Surah As-saffat (37) more.

Its more about at least keeping to a regular time, and not doing too much and not about forcing too much, then I sometimes like to read Surahs that I don't regularly read like Surah As-saffat.

I'm not fluent in arabic, but when learning the 99 names of Allah, it was easy to recognise the names in the Quran, and learn bit by bit.

I hope that others give themselves the time and opportunity to even if its spending 5 minutes a day reading a portion of the Quran. As I know it can be tiring at the end of a busy day, so remember that you don't have to completely finish all lengthy Surahs in a day.

Nana, very nice thread idea. :)

It is hard to choose!

In terms of simple message (for now) I would pick At Tin (95) and Al Asr (103) as it tells us about us, we can be the highest of high or be the lowest of the low, and that we don't have much time..... :exhausted

Peace

There are 3 Surat I can not seperate from each other. They together give the full message of the Qur'an in as few words as possible.

Even in English they retain their Beauty. For the benefit of those who are still learning Arabic here they are in English

1. Surah Al-Fatihah

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

1. In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

2. All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

3. The Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

4. The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)

5. You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything).

6. Guide us to the Straight Way

7. The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger nor of those who went astray

109. Surah Al-Kaafiroon (The Disbelievers)

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

1. Say : "O Al-Kafirun

2. "I worship not that which you worship,

3. "Nor will you worship that which I worship.

4. "And I shall not worship that which you are worshiping.

5. "Nor will you worship that which I worship.

6. "To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islamic Monotheism)."

112. Surah Al-Ikhlaas or At-Tauhid (The Purity)

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

1. Say : "He is Allah, (the) One.

2. "Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks).

3. "He begets not, nor was He begotten;

4. "And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him."

My favorite Surah for recitation is Surah Al-Ikhlaas. Ever since I heard about the Sahaba who loved reciting this Surah, and the Holy Prophet (saw) announced that Allah loved him because of his love for this Surah, I started forcing myself to love it just to receive the same love from Allah. Now I feel like reciting it is like tasting something nice and sweet on my tongue. No food tastes better in my mouth than the taste of reciting this Surah on my tongue. I know that might not make any sense, but for me this is very true. I can't quite explain it.

Then the most amazing Surah for reflection I find is Surah Al-Kahf. The whole Surah relates to Dajjal, and so it is about this age. Every time I reflect on the state of the world now and then read this Surah, it seems like Allah has provided all of the answers for the problems and has explained how things will turn out in our time. It never ceases to amaze me how many signs are witnessed just by reflecting on the verses from Surah Al-Kahf. The stories explain deep metaphors and the lessons are full of hidden meanings. If i were to write down all that I have reflected on about this Surah and its manifestations, I could write volumes in my free time and never tire of the lessons I derive from this Surah. And this is coming from a common person who has no special knowledge of the Book. That is how amazing it is!

Perhaps I should spend more time on this surah.... :D

Maybe even look forward to reading about your input (if you decide to utilize your free time to type out your reflections in a different thread...):p

Peace to you Ahmad H

When I was a kid I always paid twice as much attention to Surat Anazi'at, because it talked about Prophet Musa when he talked to Allah on Tour Sinaa. I am Egyptian and I find it amazing that Egypt is the only country to be mentioned in the Qur'an and that one of the 4 holy places is in Egypt :)
I actually don't have a favorite Surah or Ayah. I love the entire Qur'an because it is full of many wonderful miracles. Alhamdolilah for the blessing of Islam :)

as-salaamu `alaykum

In no particular order:
Surah al-Hamd
Surah ar-Rahman
Surah Yusuf
Surah Yasin
Surah Taha
Surah at-Tawheed
Surah al-Kawthar
Surah al-Kahf
Surah al-Ahzab
Surah ash-Shams
Surah al-Layl
Surah al-`Alaq
Surah al-Qadr
Surah al-`Asr
Surah al-Falaq
Surah an-Nas
Ayat an-Nur
Ayat al-Kursi

The whole Qur'an-e-Kareem is beautiful beyond words but these are my favorites.

Please make Du'a for me that I might be able to memorize all of the above plus the entire 114 suwar and become a hafiz-e-Qur'an insha'Allah tabarak wa ta'ala.

Fee amanillah.
