We are simply unaware of the capital which we actually possess.

It could be that one of us develops a migraine or toothache which causes life to seemingly plunge into utter darkness. But why hadn't we acknowledged the luminosity of life when these pains weren't around?

It could be that a stomach ulcer which one of us develops, preventing us from eating and drinking what we crave. But why hadn't we acknowledged their worth before we'd fallen ill?

Why do the elderly cry over their lost youth but the youth are never seen pleased with their prime?

Why do we realise the value of a blessing only after it departs?

Why is it that the only happiness which we appreciate is that which existed in the past or that which we hope will come in the distant future? Why is the happiness of the present so invisible to us?

Why have we been persuaded that being rich is confined to money?

We claim that “we have nothing” and “others are far better off than us” yet had we lacked a liver, an eardrum, an eye, a tongue or any bodily enzyme, *no* price would be too expensive ..

So, how many millions then do you actually possess?

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

مَنْ أَصْبَحَ مِنْكُمْ آمِنًا فِي سِرْبِهِ ، مُعَافًى فِي جَسَدِهِ ، عِنْدَهُ قُوتُ يَوْمِهِ ، فَكَأَنَّمَا حِيزَتْ لَهُ الدُّنْيَا

“Whoever of you wakes up in a state of security in his home, healthy in his body and has his food for the day, then, it is as if the *whole world* (!!) has been gathered for him”

On your head sits a crown of health, but the only ones who see it are the ill. You also possess a crown of security, but only those who are afraid can see it. Most importantly however, you possess the crown of guidance, a crown which can only be seen by the confused.

We are in fact incredibly rich, drenched from head to bottom in affluence and with Islam, we are the happiest of all people.

Asalamualykum,

So very true.

Alhamdulilah for being Muslims and Alhamdulilah for the most precious gem a human being can posses - emaan.

I think the author of this article raises very valid and important points. So many of us including me forget the value of health and we only remember when we fall ill.

So many of us forget the value and precious moments we share with our parents and then we long for just a few minutes when they are gone.

May Allah swt help us be grateful in poverty, in richness, in happiness, in sadness, with family, without family and everywhere we go Ameen.
