Are Jinns what Christians call demons? Do Muslims consider them to be Angels who have sinned? If not, what are they? Where did they come from?

Jinns are separate species whom Allah :swt: has created with fire. They are different from angels. Angels are created with light.

You know, in Islam, we believe that there is no fallen angles. Angels can never disobey God, they have no free will, their only mission is to serve God

Therefore we believe that Iblis, or as you refer to him in Christianity as Lucifer or Satan was not a fallen angel, we believe that he is a Jinn.
But don't get it wrong, not all Jinns are demons!
In Islam, Jinns will be judged at the day of judgement that means that they have free will. Allah created them from fire.
Therefore we find bad Jinns (Demons) and also good Jinns (Muslims, Christians, Jews...)
We even believe that humans, the ones who spread evil and make wars, can be demons too.

This is a beautiful recital of the sura (chapter) of Jinns

Jinns are created from smokeless fire, and are an unseen being. Islam does not have the concept of sinful angels, since we believe angels can't sin and are eternally submissive to God, since why would God create an enforcer class that can rebel? Demons can be practically called Jinns I suppose, it's the same basic fiery being stuff. The devil was a Jinn and Jinns were made by God, not Satan or anyone else. They can be good or evil, because they have the choice to do either.

Jinn are invisible creatures, Quran tell how they were created from fire and human were made of mud.

They live with us in this world, in tribes and clans and families they same way human lives.

The good among are normally called Jinn were the bad called shaytan, of devils.

There are many types of them, we muslims normally categorize them by their religion.

I'll come back ISA with more details

In addition to the plethora of wonderful responses about their origins so far, I'd like to take one step further by adding that jinn tend to have the personalities of children. They are sensitive, easily offended, and mischief, yet they also follow some of the same religions we do. Some are good, some cruel, some evil. There are shamans and other religious folks who possess the spiritual prowess to perform ruqyas (exorcisms) that have made such claims, although from my knowledge neither the Qur'an nor the ahadith go into detail about their personalities beyond stating that they are mischief and curious in nature. It is, however, expressly forbidden to attempt to purposely communicate with them unless no other option is viable (i.e., ruqya).

Jinns can affect human emotion, like make someone feel fear or easy to angry. However, someone who is in condition which his emotion affected by jinns would not be able to think about idea, or accept an idea, especially sophisticated ideas like communism or fascism.
