Poetry "Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash" the famous canadian author and poet Leonard Cohen.

Poetry in our society is tragic all time low, mixed by nonsensical pop culture, rap or heavy metal which now became with no ethical and education qualities.

Gone are the days where the masses were captivated by the works for Al Mutanabbi and Ibn Rumi which now are regrettably replaced by observing the lives of ever so Desperate Housewives or so called TV artists to sport players in a sea of false tans and false prophets.

Historically, one can judge a civilization as they choose to entertain themselves, it's a direct reflection based on a moral and an ethical code.

Sadly, your mirror of reflection reveals that you are a people of laziness, mediocrity and complacency! blame you for this sad ignorance ? that is something i pledged to never do! Save you from this sad ignorance... now that, that is the essence of my true calling to Poetry!

And remember a great poet once said “A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness.”

Usually i make poems in the Arabic language because true poetry is the tongue of the Arabs but i will translate them intro English for the greater good of our lovely members.

You’re welcome!

And we was teaching our history
And cleaning it up from the blood of the enemies
So that the West, France and the States can know
That i'm the successor of Glory and Greatness
And that i was loyal and that i refused
And that i was greater than the great (the ones who became great)

There's a lot of rubbish pop culture about, but don't dismiss rap or heavy metal. You've obviously never listened to Public Enemy or Iron Maiden, my friend. Also, as someone who has read a lot, I can assure you that good poetry can be found in many languages.

There's a lot to learn, for all of us. Enjoy the journey.

Peace

Internet is nothing if you're absent * but you are present in my deepest heart
Sending you my greetings everyday * as much as sadness, weeping and gloom are in my heart
Lo, you have possessed and hunted me so badly * and you took my enchained love so easily
All i wish is to meet you each time * and I pray God each time to grant me my wish
My sweety stay loyal to our promises * and do not get tired because of the long distance
Beauty hided your beautiful name in these verses * as each letter of Islamic Board is a beginning of each verse

My heart because of your remoteness is so ill
My longing is so real and my body is so slim
My amiability is deeply known by you
Mountains may disappear and my love will not

Assalaamu alaikum Ahmed,

(smile) Well, perhaps these names are not so well known (at least in North America)... but did you know that the translated poetry of Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rumi is the most sold poetry in the US, and has been for years?

(smile) Food for thought, is it not?

May Allah, the Manifest and the Hidden, Help us to see and understand the inner poetry of the "other".

I'am the son of Glory and Greatness
I'am the inheritor of Pride and Bigness
My staying in the land of Olive
Is like the fettle of Socrates between the Greeks
I'm in a nation that has been avoided by God
Strange like Andalucia in Europe
Which level will i ascend ?
Which great will i follow ?
And everything that Allah has settle
Is despised by my mettle
Just like a hair in the air

When you find a man
Who transforms
Every part of you
Into poetry,
Who makes each one of your hairs
Into a poem,
When you find a man,
Capable,
As I am
Of bathing and adorning you
With poetry,
I will beg you
To follow him without hesitation,
It is not important
That you belong to me or him
But that you belong to poetry

Damascus stood regal
Oh Allah
divine God
like the stars reaching over the darkened sky
but it fell
cruel life
The Stars waved over the world and fell
like a dream split the heavens and did dwell nowhere
The light cast over the ruined streets
sickening streets
the defeat
and down like men that fall in battle
blood merging into mud
the life that makes death as it could
the telling of the end
but love remained
Love
The Stars shone all night
like the mother who cradles her life
but there is also blight in the spheres
like lanterns in the night sky guiding angels to their homes
the smokey clouds dancing over the city
gathering tears in them
the city that is
sweet nectarous lemon flowers in spring
and still there was love
as all the solitude does bring
Oh The Love.
The day was long
the men strong like ragged legends in the land
and infernal like the beating of waves on rocks
the Syrian sadness in me
the ticking on of clocks in towers
and still
still there was love.
Love like sadness always within
nowhere really but
the glorious people know this thing
their stories passing by like waves making waves
and the singing
on and on
through decades but all decays
desire of Glory & Greatness in me always
and still the hope is
Love.
The love is here, but there?
like lambs that bleat and die
and the heritage of the city... who cares?
cruel life
good life
like rain that falls and falls
the descendant of hope
the voice of my poetry that wakes you when it calls sweetly your name
the voice of my poetry, o great country
the dedication is for no one but you
the hope
the life
the birth of my love
and still there is more Love.
Love...
