View Full Version : The Qur'an depicts Hell

Allah says, وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنْسَانُ وَأَنَّى لَهُ الذِّكْرَى

“And Hell is brought within view on that Day..
On that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?"

And in a more graphic Ayah, Allah says: إِذَا رَأَتْهُمْ مِنْ مَكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ سَمِعُوا لَهَا تَغَيُّظًا وَزَفِيرًا

“When the Hellfire sees them from a distant place, they will hear its fury and roaring.”

Ponder over this verse.

Did you spot it?

Allah didn’t say “when people see it” but rather, “when it sees them!”

Thus Jahannam is a terrifyingly unusual creature of Allah, one that sees, hears, speaks and rips itself apart in rage and fury.

May Allah protect us from this destination and inspire us to do what is needed to earn such protection.

Yeah, Hell is depicted as alive.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "In very hot weather delay the Zuhr prayer till it becomes (a bit) cooler because the severity of heat is from the raging of the Hell-fire. The Hell-fire of Hell complained to its Lord saying: O Lord! My parts are eating (destroying) one another. So Allah allowed it to take two breaths, one in the winter and the other in the summer. The breath in the summer is at the time when you feel the severest heat and the breath in the winter is at the time when you feel the severest cold." (Sahih al-Bukhari 536)

But if you look more closely, there are way more Hadith that depict objects that do not normally talk to us, as having consciousness or some concept of awareness. Quite interesting. I've also heard a statement that if someone asks for freedom for Hell, then Hell will ask the same prayer for that person, wonder if it is true.

Hmmm... Now that you've mentioned it, I see how the story would fit, I wonder too! Will hell also pray for the same? But still, we have to earn Allah's mercy...

:peace:

All the oceans of the world combined could not put out the fire of Hell or even reduce from its heat.

However, a single drop of tears which you shed in remembrance of Allah is sufficient to veil you from it.

The Prophet (PBUH) said,

"There are two types of eyes which will never be touched by the fire-

An eye which spent its evening guarding the Muslims in the path of Allah.

And an eye which cried from the fear of Allah"

How precious are such tears.
