Fadalah ibn ‘Ubayd (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports:...“When Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would lead the Sahabah in Salah, some men would collapse among them during the Salah due to extreme hunger, they were the Ashabus Suffah. The Bedouins would say, ‘These people are mad/possessed’. When Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) completed the Salah, he turned to them and said:‘If you knew what [reward] was in store for you with Allah then you would love your hunger and need to be more intense.”...(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2368. Declared authentic by Imam Tirmidhi and Imam Ibn Hibban, Al Ihsan, Hadith: 724)

Sayyiduna ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (radiyallahu ‘anhu) says.:“Once we were seated with Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in the Masjid when Mus’ab ibn ‘Umayr appeared before us, wearing nothing but an upper garment patched with fur. On seeing him, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) wept recalling how he had lived (in luxury prior to accepting Islam) compared to the state that he was on that day. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) then said:...“What will your condition be when one of you goes out in the morning with a set of clothing and goes out in the evening with a different set of clothing, when a platter of food is placed before you as another platter is taken away and when you will drape your homes just as the Ka’bah is draped ?”...They replied: “O Messenger of Allah! On that day we will be in a better condition than we are today, devoting ourselves to worship and our responsibilities taken care of”...Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “No, today you are better than you will be on that day.”...(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2476, declared sound –hasan– by Imam Tirmidhi -rahimahullah-)
