Assalamu alaykum,

I thought this would be a nice thread, where we can write about the times a dua was answered, it can be anything really, small or big, maybe answered in a unexpected way or years on, maybe it a dua we never made. InshaAllah it will encourage us to continue making dua to Allah swt constantly.

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, "The supplication of every one of you will be granted if he does not get impatient and say (for example): `I supplicated my Rabb but my prayer has not been granted'.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

It's up to you, you can include the previous story if you want - the most important part is you telling us when and how the dua was answered and then we can all say 'alhamdulillah'.

Have you ever made dua wish Allah give someone as your spouse in the future?. .... Okay, I will share a true story.

A quarter century ago when I still studied in university I met a girl. Felt matched with her and intend to marry her. She accepted me and was willing to wait until I finished my study. I really love that girl. That's why I always made dua, day and night, wish Allah gave easiness for me and her to go to marriage. I made this dua after every salah. Even often enough I performed tahajjud, and continued with dua. I really wanted to marry her.

But Allah didn't grant my dua. That girl changed her mind and decide to not marry me. It did not only break my heart. But also made me begin to questioning, why didn't Allah grant my dua?. I always made dua everytime after salah. But why Allah did not listen to me?.

I felt disappointed on Allah. But then I begin to thinking to go to another girl who I knew was willing to accept me. A girl who I knew earlier since in high school, few years before I met the girl who left me.

Then I married my ex-classmate, have two children, and live happily with her. I have forgotten my love to the previous girl, and have built new love for my wife. We lived together year by year, and then we arrived in the 16th year of our marriage.

One night in that time when I relax with my wife, she made a confession. She told me that she already had special feeling on me since we were in high school. She told her feeling, and her hope, to her grandma. Her grandma told her to make dua. They made dua together, and then her grandma told her, "In Shaa Allah, you will be together with Ardianto in the future".

I was surprised with her confession, and I began to understand why Allah didn't grant my dua to marry my previous future wife. That's because Allah already granted my wife dua. Allah had written a destiny that she ask in her dua. Yes, like people say, if Allah has written a destiny, it would be happen.

I looked at my wife and begin to realize why she always loyal to me, why she always patient whenever I made a trouble, why she always forgave me whatever mistake that I made. And suddenly I felt I love my wife more than before.

This is the story of dua that being answered. Not my dua, but my late wife dua. Allah granted her dua to live with me until the end of her life.
