Petition to Take Down Islamophobic Facebook Pages

Interesting start to being here on this forum .... and a very curious one, too. May Allah reward you for your intention.

I am not sure how thay can be achieved as people will be people and will carry on making islamophobic statements anywhere they can..

Better if we could curtail the media from spreading false info that filters down to Facebook because the malicious lies as spread by the media took root hence driving people to put their comments on facebook... no?

An obvious example would be about ISIS. Although it is widely reported that ISIS is a totally non muslim organisation funded and spearheaded by NON MUSLIMS, it is still labelled as a muslim threat when actually, they seem to be content to blast away muslim nations.. where is the logic?

The best that can be done is to counter false information rather than silence it. Islam is the world's second largest religion and the world's fastest growing religion. Someone is always going to be talking smack about it somewhere. But as Western values allow your religion to be practiced freely and allow you to openly advocate on it's behalf, Western values also allow others to criticize it, whether based on true or false information.

It's hard to tell where free speech ends and where libel begins, but Facebook is a private corporation and has their own policies on such things. If silencing the opposition is the way you want to go, make a case for libel and hate speech. Some of the idiotic anti-Islam pages on there certainly qualify as both. Give it a go.

I've also seen people legitimately criticize Islam based on historical interpretation and actual Islamic teachings. It may be difficult for someone not educated in Islamic teachings to tell the two apart. And probably as difficult for Facebook mods to tell them apart as well. Anyone who ventures to take down hate speech will have to sift that out from legitimate criticism.

why attempt take down islamophobic pages??? they provide an opportunity for dawah, after all

Its a good intention, but when one is taken down many more pop up in its place, whilst it is an opportunity for people to counter their arguments wether they then choose to believe or think on it after you have given them the truth is entirely dependent upon wether Allah wishes them to be guided or mis-guided.

Some of them genuinely dont actually know anything, and buy everything the media tells them, and all those other anti islam websites, once you explain to them in a good manner you can see that they start to become more open minded and want to understand things (very few people but one os better than none)

I think more effort should be on those websites or fb pages that when a muslim in the nicest way destroys their arguments the comments are deleted and they are blocked so the truth can no longer be spread, which clearly shows they dont care if the truth is infront of them and they will do anything to get rid of the evidence proving them to be liars and falsely accusing an entire religion based on lies & fearmongering...
its happend so many times as soon as you correct them and other people begin to ask questions amd stop insulting or when you answer their rubbish and they have nothing left except to block you lol

I think the media is the biggest culprit of anything, the attacks on jews, blacks, hispanics, now us and theres not much we can do with that apart from show people how wrong they are.

Hmm i do think more dawah to muslims needs to done, as theres a serious problem with alot of them, especially culture wise, and acting/speaking on impulse
