Belief in Allah is the first and the most important pillar. It is the foundation of Islam. If you believed in Allah, it is easy to believe in the other five pillars. it is also the message that all the previous messengers came with.Belief in Allah means believing in the existence and oneness of Allah. Believing that Allah is the only creator and the only sustainer and lord to whom we only submit. “That is so for God is the undeniable truth, and what they invoke apart from Him is false; yet God is all-high and supreme” {Al-Hajj 62**. All forms of glory, all praises, all thanks and all authority and sovereignty belong to Him alone. In Arabic it is called Tawheed which means to make Him one.

Tawheed has three types:The first type of Tawheed is Tawheed al rubobeya which means believing that Allah is the Lord. He is the only creator and the only Sustainer and provider and in charge of all the affairs of the creation. Allah is One and Unique with regard to His actions such as creation, sovereignty, control, giving life and death, and so on. Allah says: “Surely, His is the creation and commandment. Blessed is Allaah, the Lord of the ‘Aalameen (mankind, jinn and all that exists)” [Quran 7:54]

The second type of Tawheed is Tawheed aloloheya which means believing that He ALONE deserves to be worshipped since he is the only creator and Sustainer. Worship is the exclusive and sole right of Allah due His slaves. All forms of worship are due to none, but the One and Only True God, Allah. It means devoting all acts of worship, both inward and outward, in word and deed, to Allaah Alone, and not worshipping anything or anyone other than Allaah, no matter who he is. Allah says “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him”[Quran 17:23], and “Worship Allah and join none with Him (in worship)”[Quran 4:36].

The third type of Tawheed is Asma WA Sifaat (names and attributes) which means belief in His names and attributes that He has affirmed for himself or which the prophet has affirmed it to Him in a manner that suits His majesty. This Tawheed is based on two principles:

1 – Affirmation: affirming that which Allah has affirmed for Himself in His Book or that His Prophet has affirmed of His beautiful names and sublime attributes in a manner that suits the Majesty and Greatness of Allah, without distorting them, twisting their meanings, denying their reality or discussing how they are.2 – Denial: denying that Allah has any faults and denying any shortcomings that He has denied Himself. The evidence for that is, the words of Allah There is nothing like Him, and He is the All‑Hearer, the All‑Seer”[Quran 42:11].So He has denied that He bears any resemblance to His creation, and affirmed that He has attributes of perfection in a manner that befits Him, may He be glorified.

This is the first pillar of Iman. If you have any inquiry about it, feel free to comment it and we will answer you insh'Allah.

Welcome to the forum..:shade:

Heavy stuff for a first post. But, 'Yes!' that is the primary thing. I would guess for most, it may not be so hard to accept but what entails by believing in it could be daunting. The 'freedom' so to speak in having to 'practice' the way of life that would confirm your acceptance of the tawheed.

It is well known about the 5 pillars of islam and the 6 articles of faith. As the basic minimum. .

But we have responsibilities here on earth, too. To be charitable, just, upright, kind, forgiving, modest and honest.

We must strive ahead with patience.

And our life here on earth is about our "intentions". Why did we do things, say things, think things. . . Is it for the Creator (tawheed) or is it for self? . . . I'd say for self how little of life have I incorporated into doing it for Allah swt..

We should talk about how do we incorporate the tawheed into our daily activities. Why are we doing, saying, thinking and how our intentions gives us blessings (in syaa Allah) for whatever undertakings, whereas the other equates to a person fasting but gaining no benefits except hunger...

Wishing you a great stay.

Your opinion is correct, our whole life should be focused on tawheed. But to do so you have to know the basics in order to not fall into shirk or so without knowing like giving Allah's attributes to human or reading your horoscopes. It is so basic but unfortunately not all muslims know the 5 pillars of islam or the six pillars of Eman or the types of tawheed or the conditions of faith. I deal with alot of muslims who dont know these. And they should be known as a basic information so that you are sure of Allah's awareness and so you can focus on tawheed on a daily basis.
