Hadhrat `Abdullaah ibn `Abbaas رضي الله عنه narrates, "When (Hadhrat) `Umar was placed upon his bed (after he had passed away), and the people gathered around him, to make Du`aa for him and perform the Janaazah Salaah for him before his body was taken away, I was among them. I felt someone (from behind) put his hands on my shoulders. I turned around and saw that it was (Hadhrat) `Ali. He made Du`aa (to Allaah) to have mercy upon (Hadhrat) `Umar and thereafter said, "You have not left behind you anyone whose deeds I would like to meet Allaah with more than I would like to meet Allaah with your deeds. By Allaah! I always knew that Allaah would place you with your two companions. So many times I used to hear Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم saying, "I, Abu Bakr and `Umar went." "I, Abu Bakr and `Umar entered." "I, Abu Bakr and `Umar left." [Narrated in Saheeh al-Bukhaari in the chapter of the Virtues of the Sahaabah.]

Hadhrat Abu Burdah narrates from his father, who said, "We performed Maghrib with Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and thereafter we said, 'Why don't we continue sitting until we perform `Ishaa with him as well?' So we sat. He came out to us (`Ishaa time) and inquired, 'For what reason did you remain here?' We said, 'Yaa Rasoolallaah, we performed Maghrib with you, then we said, 'Why don't we continue sitting until we perform `Ishaa with you as well?' He said, 'You have done well.' Thereafter, he raised his head to the sky - and very often he would raise his head to the sky - and he said, 'The stars are a protection for the sky; when they go, that which was promised to the sky will come to it. I am a protection for my Sahaabah; when I go, that which was promised to my Sahaabah will come to them. My Sahaabah are a protection for my Ummah; when they go, that which was promised my Ummah will come to it." [Narrated in Saheeh Muslim in the Chapter of the Virtues of the Sahaabah.]

The `Ulamaa explain that the meaning of the words "that which was promised to it" means those trials, tribulations, hardships, difficulties, etc. which the Ummah was warned of, would come only after the Sahaabah had left the Dunyaa.

  1. Hadhrat Abu Bakr
  2. Hadhrat `Umar ibn al-Khattaab
  3. Hadhrat `Uthmaan ibn `Affaan
  4. Hadhrat `Ali ibn Abi Taalib
  5. Hadhrat Talhah ibn `Ubaydillaah
  6. Hadhrat Zubayr ibn al-`Awwaam
  7. Hadhrat `Abdur Rahmaan ibn `Awf
  8. Hadhrat Sa`d ibn Abi Waqqaas
  9. Hadhrat Sa`eed ibn Zayd
  10. Hadhrat Abu `Ubaydah ibn al-Jarraah

These ten Sahaabah are known as "al-`Asharatul Mubash-sharah" (The Ten Promised Jannah).

The Death of Hadhrat Huzaifah ibn al-Yamaan

As Hadhrat Huzaifah رضي الله عنه was laying to die, some of the Sahaabah came to visit him. He asked them what time it is, so they told him it is approaching dawn. He said, "I seek protection with Allaah from a dawn that will take me to the fire of Jahannam." He then sent two Sahaabah to buy a Kafan (burial shroud). They came back with something that was expensive and striped. He said, "This is not for me. Buy two plain white sheets, because they will not remain on me except a very short time. If your companion (i.e. myself) is good, it will soon be exchanged for something much better (in Jannah). And if your companion is other than that, it will soon be exchanged for something much worse."

As he was about to die, he said:

لولا أن هذا الوم آخر يوم من الدنيا وأول يوم من الآخرة لم أتكلم به, اللهم إنك تعلم أني كنت أحب الفقر على و
الغنى, وأحب الذلة على العزة, وأحب الموت على الحياة
هذه آخر ساعة من الدنيا, اللهم إنك تعلم إني أحبك فبارك لي في لقائك

مرحباً بالموت, حبيب جاء على شوق

Marhaban bil-Maut; Habeebun Jaa'a `alaa Shawq...

"If it had not been that this is the last day of the days of this Dunyaa, and the first of the days of the Aakhirah, I would not have spoken this. O Allaah! You know that I loved poverty over riches; that I loved humility over authority and positions of power; and that I loved death over life. This is the very last moment of this Dunyaa. O Allaah, You know that I love You, so bless me in my meeting with You.

Welcome, death. A beloved has come after a long period of yearning."

So saying, he left this Dunyaa.

[Here, he was referring to Maut as a beloved. That is because Sahaabah loved death more than other people love life. They had no love in their hearts for this Dunyaa and wanted to leave it for the Aakhirah as soon as possible. Also, most importantly, they wanted to leave the Dunyaa in order to see Allaah Ta`aalaa and be with their loved ones: Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم, the Ambiyaa, the Sahaabah, the Shuhadaa; all the people who moved on to the Aakhirah before them. May Allaah Ta`aalaa reunite us very soon with those we love,

`Abdur Rahmaan ibn `Uthmaan al-Qurashi narrates that Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم entered upon his daughter Ruqayyah رضي الله عنها one day while she was washing the head (of her husband,) `Uthmaan رضي الله عنه. Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said to her, "O my beloved daughter, be good to Abu `Abdillaah (i.e. Hadhrat `Uthmaan رضي الله عنه) because from my companions, he resembles me the most in Akhlaaq (character). [Narrated in al-Mu`jam al-Kabeer of Imaam at-Tabraani.]

An-Nazzaal ibn Saburah al-Hilaali narrates, "We said to `Ali رضي الله عنه, "O Ameer-ul-Mu'mineen!" and we spoke to him about `Uthmaan (رضي الله عنه). He said, "That is a man who is referred to by al-Mala'-ul-A`laa (the senior most among the Malaa'ikah themselves) as "Dhu-n Noorayn" (The Possessor of Two Lights). He was the son-in-law of Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم for two of his daughters. Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم guaranteed for him a house in Jannah."

Hadhrat Huzaifah ibn al-Yamaan رضي الله عنه narrates that Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "I do not know how long I will remain among you (in this Dunyaa), so follow the two after me," and he pointed to Abu Bakr and `Umar." [Narrated in Sunan ibn Maajah.]

Hadhrat `Amr ibn al-`Aas رضي الله عنه narrates that Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم placed him in charge of the army of Dhaat as-Salaasil. (He says): "So I came to him and asked, "Who of mankind is most beloved to you?" He said, "`Aa'ishah." I asked, "From the men?" He replied, "Her father." I asked, "Then who?" He replied, "Then `Umar ibn al-Khattaab." Thereafter, he mentioned more men." [Narrated in Saheeh al-Bukhaari.]

Hadhrat Abu Sa`eed al-Khudhri رضي الله عنه narrates: "I heard Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم saying: "While I was sleeping, I was shown the people (i.e. my Ummah) presented to me, and upon them were Qumus (Kurtahs). Some of them, their Qamees reached their upper chests. Some of them, (their Qamees) reached less than that. `Umar was presented to me, and his Qamees (was so long) he was dragging it." They (the Sahaabah) asked: "How do you interpret it, Yaa Rasoolallaah?" He said, "Deen." [Narrated in Saheeh al-Bukhaari.]

(Qumus is plural of Qamees.)

As-Salaam-Alaikum,

The story of the Sahaabah

Finally met this beauty few days ago.

Subhan'Allah, seeing this you’d really get to think how would Jannah be if in dunyā such beauty already exists.

Though many may come to witness it’s intricate details in real life, still I ask everyone that when we go and visit places like these, our intentions are not to visit it as a tourist but a resident who have yearned a lot of coming back to his/her home.

For the masajīd are places where such peace in the heart can be found and powerful thoughts and reflections of how we are doing with our imān can emerge. Alhamdulillah.

May Allāh grant us an easy entrance to Jannah! Amīn

Please remember me in your ad'iyah.

Khuda Hafiz.

The Sahaba were the first and best generation of Muslims. We need to learn about them, love them, and emulate them. To help you learn more about the Sahaba, here is a short list of 70 amazing facts about 70 Sahaba.

NOTE: I did not write (RA) after each Sahabi’s name, as it is recommended to say it but not obligatory to write it. (RA) is short for Radi Allahu Anhu/haa/hum which means ‘May Allah be pleased with him/her/them’.

The Rightly Guided Caliphs: (The four Great Sahaba who ruled after the Prophet)

Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq – He was the Prophet’s (pbuh) chosen companion for the Hijrah. (Migration To Madinah)
Umar Ibn Al-Khattab – During his reign, Iraq, Syria, Palestine and Egypt all became part of the Muslim Empire.
Uthman Ibn Affan – He was considered the most modest of the Sahaba and even the angels would feel shy around him.
Ali Ibn Abi Talib – He grew up in the Prophet’s (pbuh) home and accepted Islam when he was ten years old.

The Early Converts: (Those who converted before the Hijrah)

Zaid Ibn Haritha – He chose to live with the Prophet (pbuh) over his own father.
Khadija Bint Khuwailid – She was the Prophet’s first wife and the first believer too.

Maaf for the late response. I haven't been posting in a while because I've been a bit busy lately.

------------------

Hadhrat Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri

His real name is Sa`d ibn Maalik ibn Sinaan al-Khudri. He is from the Ansaar. He is one of the Sahaabah who narrated the most Ahaadeeth from Rasoolullaah Every Taalib-ul-`Ilm who has studied Bukhaari, Muslim, Abu Daawud, Tirmidhee, Nasaa'i, ibn Maajah can never be unfamiliar with the name of "Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri"; it comes up so often, again and again. This is because of the vast amount of Ahaadeeth he narrated from Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم, and thus his name appears so frequently in the Kutub of Hadeeth, and this in itself is a great honour to him, that throughout the world, in Madaaris, Daarul Ulooms and Halaqaat of `Ilm where Hadeeth is studied, his name is mentioned there when narrating from Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم. Think of how great an honour that is, that his name is widely known in the Dunyaa and in the Aakhirah. "`An Abee Sa`eed-inil-Khudri Radhiyallaahu `Anhu Qaal: Qaala Rasoolullaahi Sallallaahu `Alayhi wa Sallam..." How often. All such Sahaabah have the unique honour of having their names attached to that of Rasoolullaah And, each and every time his name is read, what do we say? What do the students say who are reading the Hadeeth? "Radhiyallaahu `Anhu" (May Allaah be pleased with him.) He has that Du`aa made for him so many times a day, throughout the world.

This great Sahaabi, as we mentioned earlier, is from the Ansaar. Who are the Ansaar? The Ansaar are "The Helpers". They are the blessed and fortunate people who helped Rasoolulllaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and their brothers and sisters from the Muslimeen of Makkah, who made Hijrah from there on account of the persecution, and they were taken in by the Ansaar, and the Ansaar went out of their way doing their utmost to please Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and please their brothers and sisters from the Muhaajireen, so may Allaah Ta`aalaa be pleased with all of them, Aameen.

His lineage goes up to the tribe of al-Khazraj. Those who know a little bit of history knows that there were always two main tribes in Madeenah: al-Aws and al-Khazraj. These tribes had feuds between them that went back hundreds of years. When Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم brought Islaam to Yathrib, which later on became known as "Madeenat-un-Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم", or "Madeenah" as we call it today, he made peace between these tribes, and by the Fadhl of Allaah Ta`aalaa, the members of these two tribes, from being the worst of enemies, became the closest friends, and this is something that only Allaah Ta`aalaa can grant.

He is Abu Sa`eed, Sa`d ibn Maalik ibn Sinaan ibn Tha`labah ibn `Ubayd ibn al-Abjar Khadhrah ibn `Awf ibn al-Haarith ibn al-Khazraj. He was born approximately 10 years before the Hijrah of Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم to Madeenah, thus, he is from the younger generation of Sahaabah. His father, Maalik ibn Sinaan, was a Sahaabi as well, and not only that, he was a Shaheed as well. He became a Shaheed on the day of the Battle of Uhud.

Hadhrat Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri رضي الله عنه also wanted to join in the Battle of Uhud and fight against the Kuffaar alongside Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and the Muslimeen. However, at the time he was 13 years old, so Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم did not grant him permission to join the battle. The burning desire for Jihaad and Shahaadah existed in the heart of each and every Sahaabi, man and woman, adults and even the children. It is non-existent in the hearts of the Muslims of today, and for this reason they run from one place to another, being oppressed by the Kuffaar wherever they go. How different things would be if Sahaabah-e-Kiraam were here...

Though Hadhrat Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri رضي الله عنه was not allowed to take part in the Battle of Uhud, he took part in the battles in later years, such as the Battle of Khandaq, the Battle of Banu'l Mustaliq, and tens of other battles along with Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and the Sahaabah. He was also part of the Bay`at-ur-Ridhwaan.

Hadhrat Abu Sa`eed al-Khudri رضي الله عنه left this Dunyaa in the year 74 A.H. and was buried in the Qabrstaan of al-Baqee`, as is mentioned in Siyar A`laam an-Nubalaa of Imaam adh-Dhahabi رحمة الله عليه.
