hi,as you may know me,i became muslim alhamdela, but when I was searching for something on youtube I came across many videos which go like "muslim speaks the truth" and it speaks about how slavery is okay and how in sharia law you can stone women (I don't know if its the truth but I will not listen to it because I haven't studied it still and I know the media hates islam a lot) but then I came across a lot of videos aswell "7 reasons why I left islam - proof why islam is false" it was by a guy named The Masked Arab, and apparently in that video he explains why,is it logical? and also I'm scared if I will become an atheist in the future again, because islam has a lot of truth and peace and I don't want to leave it,im scared if my arrogance will blind me one day....

why are muslims leaving islam due to dumb reasons? like a woman said she left islam after reading the quran (I believe its the part where it says hit them but still I cant say if its true or not because I did not read it) is it their blindness?

Why is your religion stated "athiesm" if you're apparently a muslim?

And I believe it's due to ignorance, people jump the gun and they don't seek help. They see something they are not sure of and they leave Islam without asking why or what context it was in.

Yet you're an atheist who has become a Muslim. Concentrate on learning more about Islam and it's practices and upholding your prayer, your fasts, your charity and your character.

over the past few years in my research ive found many who,ve left islam to actually have issues with the culture they were born into and their failure or refusal to accept that.
its easier to blame islam than your parents and whole town and village etc.

in batley some youngsters have left islam
but as with the grooming issue the silence is deafening
i know of 1 young scholar who talks to youngsters about anything and everything.

youngsters with inquisitive minds living in a world where information is in the palm of the hand at a buttons touch away must be engaged with and listened to.

if we dont, there are vultures and vampires waiting in dark places online for them.then parents cry.

we have to be able to talk about apostasy, homosexuality, terrorism and grooming ..including in dewsbury and batley

About those YouTube videos you mentioned, I don´t think that many of them would really be real. Those islamophobics can easily make kind of videos. better not to watch them.

How did you become a Muslim without reading the Qur'an, if I may ask?

Many of the things you mention, such as being able to hit your wife, are true according to the Qur'an. However, it must be taken in context. The Revelation says it is okay to hit your wife LIGHTLY, as a last resort; I have heard it said by Zakir Naik, for example, that it is the equivalent of hitting your wife with a toothbrush. Stoning as a punishment is never mentioned in the Qur'an, but it is mentioned in several hadiths, which is why it is used as a punishment - against both men and women - for adultery in some Muslim majority countries.

I too suggest that you do not watch such videos because even if what they say is true, they do not give any explanations for what they say and leave many things out of context, which is CRUCIAL for understanding Islam properly. Watch good Islamic lectures on the topics that concern you, and for Allah's sake, read the Qur'an for yourself, even better if you can read a student's Qur'an that explains the verses.

You should concentrate on reading the Quran, and these issues are complicated,I've studied apostasy, and it's something SO misinterpreted by a lot of people, about sharia law,I'm not sure, you have to read the Quran,I believe Saudi Arabia are implementing the wrong sharia law...

That's a harsh statement. I have struggled with my faith. To be honest, I don't think I believe in anything anymore, but I will tell you one thing, I have contacted approximately 10 Aalims over the last few months and only 1 had time / actually replied. The rest of them do heaps of sermons and lectures and give out email addresses etc saying "come to me with any questions or concerns you have and I will make time for you". Can 9 out of 10 Aalims really be that busy? I completely understand people can be busy what with families and other issues, but all 9 of them? I only introduced myself and said I was having issues with my faith and please could they advise me, but nope, no response.

Gosh, they even do sermons on receivers and radio stations, handing out email address and phone numbers but no one bothers to reply. Why offer a service if you won't respond? I was having issues anyway, but that completely jaded me.

In Dewsbury too. Last Ramadhan, I was cornered by the Jamaati gang who wanted me to go to Jamaat with them. They were telling me about some girls in Dewsbury who are from religious families but no longer follow Islam and think it's all make belief.

Oh they will talk about and condemn homosexuality in Batley. They have even started talking about drugs and prison and gangs. I've still not heard a single thing being said about grooming and paedophilia. Personally, I thought it would be at the forefront seen as it's quite often someone in Batley or Dewsbury is locked up for s.e.x offences against children, but no! I know it's shameful and embarrassing but it needs to be addressed.

Mate, knowing Islam and accepting takes years of research,I know Islam very well, and the media is doing a good job on making it look bad,Islam is so different from what the media says, and with that I always look out and beware of anti Islamic websites...

Also if you want, you may ask me these questions,I'll try to answer if I can,but even if your question isn't answered, you can ask here,do some research,I understood a lot from researching..if you would look into my computer tabs, every single one of them is packed with Islamic sites explaining stuff, and believe me I haven't found the time to finish it..

there is a saying which is no longer applicable, just as there are many cliches and proverbs which have contradictory proverbs ,,eg..too many cooks spoil the broth is contradicted by many hands make light work

so..the one which is now defunct is..dont air your dirty laundry in public..
people forget hardly anything is private anymore..also see

something i wrote regarding the itv documentary..

why did they leave ........the dire need for an altruistic and pragmatic approach
im sure many have heard by now about the recent itv programme about apostates/atheists however its phrased.
i only have questions, they are genuine and also for reflection for the communities which they left.
some observations and assumptions first.
1.it appeared the issues and grievances were with retrogressive culture and bad parenting primarily and not religion..
2 :vulnerable and lonely people were looking for love and support..
3parents and communities in their ignorance overreacted and in fact made the situation worse..
4.self righteousness and lazy cultural parenting along with an ignorance of the spiritual aspect of islam may be to blame..
5:the inability and refusal of the muslim community ,to address its own failings and rot constantly shoved under the proverbial carpet came to the surface..;the carpet itself has now rotted away, and no new carpet will be able to cover the rot we constantly try to shove under it..

murdering people on the streets makes things worse, calling for murder makes things worse, shunning people and not listening to them makes things worse.;ignoring people with doubt and confusion makes things worse.
over reaction and ignoring the voice and feelings of those in deep pain and dilemmas makes things worse
.shunning and excommunicating makes things worse
.mocking and hunting and dehumanising someones daughter, son makes things worse

islam is a way of life which makes things better,it heals,it manages,it comforts.it draws people near and embraces humanity without prejudice.

AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST

I have not read all the comments above. I just wanted to recommend a book which I found very fascinating and will also answer many of the questions.

https://www.amazon.com/Misquoting-Mu.../dp/1780747829

Dr. Jonathan Brown has done a tremendous job, describing how the muslim scholarship developed over time, and how they dealt with understanding Sunnah and Quran, and why different interpretations exist, and how the different tools developed for interpreting the Quran and Sunnah. Its a must read in order to understand the challenges we are facing today.
