Does age matter to be an Hafiz?

Hello. I am a Bangladeshi .I am 18 years old. Now I am willing to go to Madrasa to be an Hafiz.But I became afraid when I think about my age.So, what should I do now?

Age is not a factor when you want to become a Hafiz. Few years ago, an 82 years woman became a Hafiz. Please see 82 year old woman becomes Hafiz

Allah revealed the Qur'an in such a way that it is very easy for anyone to memorize. So just start memorizing today and :ia: you will one day become a Hafiz. Even if you memorize just one Ayah every day, you can become a Hafiz in a few years time. Or if you die before you complete, Allah will still raise you among the Huffaz because of your intention and continued effort to become a complete Hafiz.

There is no imprisonment for reading or getting knowledge .If the fact is true, nothing prevents

Bettering yourself is always good, regardless of your age.
Beside, you are just 18, you are still very young and have all sorts of possibilities before you.

You can have a tutor (Hafiz) to teach you at home instead of going to madarsa.

My friends began with 19 and niw they are hafiz with 22 years. Everything is possible if Allah wants and your will is correct.

In this age - it is easy if you try, you have the qurraa of haramain and other top notch quraa from around the globe ready to assist you via audio recordings and repeat over and over again at your own pace and time in a way that would have been perceived as a priceless blessing only a few decades ago - let alone at the time of sahaabah and taabi'een who would trek hundreds of dangerous kilometers by ship, camel, horse, donkey, and on foot in order to reach a recommended reciter who they would serve as humble and devoted needy people in order to get in their good graces and attention.

It's easier at a young age since there is less on the mind - but i believe it's better to study Islam whilst learning arabic and attain good character at younger ages since the Quran in Arabic without understanding takes less priority considering the now available audio technology.

One must ask themself: am i becoming a haafiz just to be able to feel good about myself without understanding what Allah is teaching me?
Do i want to show other people that i am a good tape recorder replacement?
Or am i learning it so that i can quickly remember a verse from my memory files when i am faced with an issue requiring a decision? (Since my preservation of the Quran will be a valuable tool if i comprehend and understand what Allah is saying).

The term under-stand must have had a legal meaning at some time in history.

The sahaabah were able to comprehend and easily understand the word of Allah - and their hifz of Quran had a totally different intention to that of non-Arabic speakers who now think they are following in their footsteps.

Please think it over and see if it is better to understand the Quran than to carry MEANINGLESS scrolls.

I agree with Abz on the intention part. I think there was a Hadith somewhere here which mentioned something along the lines of it being better to memorize 1 surah with the understanding behind it than it is to memorize the whole Quran with no understanding. I could be wrong though.

I also agree with it being easier when you're younger but, there is no age limit to at least starting. I knew more surah as a kid (memorization, not understanding) than I do now, but now I'm learning Arabic through the Quran, which I find to be easier thanks to all the harakat, while at the same time memorizing the ayat and reading their translations. There are plenty of good books and videos available if you feel like doing it on your own. It would probably be easier to be in a place where there are a group of you doing vs you doing it by yourself, but everyone has their preferences. If you don't know Arabic, I highly recommend using a book with large font. Sometimes the lines, dots, and harakat are hard to read using traditional books.
