Salams, does anyone know any good sheikhs(either english speaking or possible to watch subtitled videos of them) who talk about practical issues that actually impact us and religious ilm? So far i watch/listen/read : Omar suleiman, Yasmin Mogahed, AbdelRahman Murphy, Suhaib Webb, Saad Tasleem, Mufti Menk, the tumblr blog called PartytilFajr( its ran by someone who used to be an imam and i think now specialises in sharia) and thats about it i think. Any recommendations? Im particularly interested in female scholars! Both traditional and modern are fine!

Salam. You can find many scholars for practical issues in English I believe. If you want a little deeper issues I suggest Abdal Hakim Murad. There are many Turkish speaking scholars too though I have found myself listenning to his lectures in the recent days.

Generally I don't listen to scholars though but Sometimes, I like to listen to Urdu speaking scholars- sh Tariq Jamil or sh Hanif Multani ra or sh Hanif Luharvi or sh makki al hijazi ra

I happened to hear a few English speaking scholars as well and I liked only 2......

Sh Riyadh ul Haq and Sh Yunus Patel ra

waalaikum asalaam,

I would advise against taking knowledge from modern islamic speakers. It's important to have your foundation built upon authentic knowledge from traditional alims. Inshallah here's some good advice to read for anyone setting out in seeking knowledge.

O Muslim, Be Cautious From Whom You Take Your Religion

Be Careful From Who You Take Your Deen From ! – Shaykh Ahmad ibn Bazmool

Who are the scholars and from whom should knowledge be taken?

Sister, this Shiekh is good and is soft spoken in his approach, with proper aqeedah:

I've heard some unsavoury things about Bilil Phillips... Im not too sure tbh. I dunno if its just rumours or if he actually holds those views.
